Job Summary:
The Child Care Assistant will be a positive role model and provide support and assistance to the House Parents by creating a nurturing environment while participating in the taking care of the day to day needs of the children residing at HFOM Children’s Home
Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assist with the day to day care and basic needs of the children.
Collaborate with the House Parents and Branch Director to plan activities and establish a schedule/routine for the children to follow.
Provide supervision and transportation for the children.
Prepare and serve lunch and snacks.
Participate in interactive activities with the children.
Keep a daily activity log.
Light housework related to daily activities.
Exhibit Positive Leadership and Communication Skills
Ensure timely and excellent communication.
Work cooperatively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions to enhance.
Establish and maintain positive relationships both internally and externally to achieve organizational goals.
Perform all additional duties as assigned by Branch Director.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Prior experience working with children required.
Prior experience working with the child welfare system preferred.
Prior training or education in child development or any related childcare, educational, social services or human services field preferred.
Excellent communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent time management skills with an ability to prioritize and multitask.
Caring and compassionate attitude.
Must be positive, energetic and enthusiastic.
CPR/First Aid Certified.
Pass a background screening.
Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.
Job requires occasional lifting up to 15 pounds.
Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on the telephone.
Compensation & Benefits
Hourly range $19-$22/hour; compensation commensurate with degree level and experience
