OVERVIEW

Full-time Home Support Worker required to care for a 90-year-old male post-stroke patient with limited mobility in a private home in Delta, British Columbia. The role requires hands-on support with personal care, hygiene, mobility, meals, companionship, supervision, and transportation related to the patient’s care needs.

This role is intended to align with NOC 44101, Home support workers, caregivers and related occupations.

Work in employer’s home

EXPERIENCE

Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in home support, caregiving, or personal care

Experience caring for an elderly person required

Experience caring for a person with limited mobility required

Experience with personal care, hygiene assistance, feeding assistance, mobility support, supervision, and meal preparation required

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide care and companionship

Administer bedside and personal care

Assist with bathing and other aspects of personal hygiene

Assist with dressing and undressing

Assist with ambulation, mobility, transfers, and repositioning

Plan and prepare meals and special diets

Feed or assist in feeding

Provide personal care

Provide companionship and supervision

Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties

Launder clothing and household linens

Shop for food and household supplies

Drive the client to medical appointments and care-related outings as needed

Be available to attend the residence within 1 hour in an emergency, when required for the client’s care and safety

REQUIREMENTS

Valid driver’s licence

Must live in Delta or within a distance that allows attendance at the residence within 1 hour in an emergency

Able to safely assist an elderly person with limited mobility

Reliable, patient, and attentive

Good judgement and strong interpersonal skills
