Role Overview

The Highway BIM Engineer will support the digital delivery of transportation and highway infrastructure projects by developing, managing, and coordinating Building Information Models (BIM) in accordance with project requirements and company BIM standards. The role involves close collaboration with highway design engineers, CAD/BIM technicians, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure accurate and efficient model development throughout all project stages.

The position contributes to improving project delivery through the implementation of BIM workflows, digital engineering tools, and model coordination.

Key Responsibilities

BIM Modeling & Design Support

• Develop and manage 3D highway models including corridors, alignments, grading, and surfaces using BIM and design software.

• Support highway design development from concept design to detailed design and IFC stages.

• Produce coordinated BIM models, drawings, and digital deliverables for highways, interchanges, and associated infrastructure.

• Ensure models comply with project BIM Execution Plan (BEP) and company standards.

Coordination & Integration

• Coordinate BIM models with utilities, drainage, structures, landscape, and traffic disciplines.

• Perform model clash detection and coordination reviews with multidisciplinary teams.

• Participate in internal BIM coordination meetings and design reviews.

Digital Delivery & Data Management

• Maintain model data integrity and version control within the Common Data Environment (CDE).

• Assist in implementing BIM workflows aligned with international standards such as ISO 19650.

Quality Assurance

• Ensure BIM models meet project requirements, accuracy standards, and LOD specifications.

• Perform model audits and checks prior to submission.

• Assist in maintaining BIM standards, templates, and libraries.

Collaboration

• Work closely with Highway Engineers, BIM Coordinators, and CAD/BIM Technicians.

• Support project teams during design development and submission stages.

• Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders when required.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.

• Minimum 4–7 years of experience in BIM modeling for highway or infrastructure projects.

• Experience working on large infrastructure or transportation projects.

• Familiarity with UAE authority requirements

Technical Skills

Proficiency in the following software is expected:

• Autodesk Civil 3D

• Autodesk Navisworks

• Autodesk Revit

• Autodesk BIM 360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud

• AutoCAD

Additional tools such as InfraWorks, Dynamo, or GIS platforms are an advantage.

Key Competencies

• Strong understanding of BIM processes and digital engineering workflows

• Knowledge of highway geometry and corridor modeling

• Good coordination and communication skills

• Ability to work within multidisciplinary infrastructure teams

• Attention to detail and commitment to quality

Preferred Experience

• Experience working on major highways, interchanges, or urban road networks

• Knowledge of UAE authority standards and infrastructure design guidelines

• Experience supporting design submissions and construction documentation
