Quick Summary

Design and develop highway infrastructure projects, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions that meet project requirements and exceed client expectations.

Job Description

You want to be part of building a community, an industry, a city. You’re interested in how it all works and why it works. You are collaborative and enthusiastic about developing design solutions to technical challenges, with an appreciation for constructability.  You perform best in groups where you know what’s expected of you. You are looking for your role where you can apply your skills, share your knowledge, and continue to learn with support from skilled professionals.

Binnie is looking for a Highway Design Engineer to join our Highway Design Division full time in our Burnaby and Kamloops office. Our Highway Design team has been recognized for notable projects including the detailed design of over 30 km of Highway 29, the four laning of Highway 1 through Chase, and the Highway 91 and 72nd Avenue interchange in Delta.

You will be working with our friendly and supportive team of experienced Project Managers, Technologists, Designers, and Engineers on a wide range of projects. We pride ourselves on our collaborative approach and offer an environment to flourish.

With around 350 staff spread across offices in Burnaby, Langley, Squamish, Kamloops, Prince George, and working remotely in many other regions across BC, we are a strong organization with a good reputation, and many long term relationships with clients. We are big enough to win interesting jobs in diverse locations, but small enough to care about you and the experiences you have at work.  We want to create a welcoming, collaborative, creative, caring and fun place for you to work

YOUR ROLE:

Preparing design drawings reports, letters and technical memorandums

Directing staff involved with the design process

Supporting the construction engineering services for your projects

Maintaining and building relationships with clients

Supporting and/or leading the preparation of fee proposals

Undertaking and monitoring design standards on completed work as per Binnie’s Professional Practice Management Plan

Coordinate and collaborate with project team members in the production of project deliverables and provide guidance where necessary

Use various standard engineering methods and techniques to solve problems and make decisions on project work

WHAT YOU BRING:

Minimum 4+ years of design and project delivery experience in a civil consulting engineering environment

Experience working independently on projects with ownership of project deliverables

Proficient using AutoCAD and Civil3D, or other software required within their area of practice

Proven history of delivery of transportation or highway design projects

Bachelor's degree or recognized equivalent in applied science, engineering, geoscience, science or technology from a university program recognized by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board

Registered as P.Eng. with a Canadian governing body

Demonstrated professional judgment, attention to detail and ability to consistently maintain a high degree of accuracy and quality in work produced

Demonstrated ability to organize, delegate and review others’ work and provide guidance and expertise to less experienced team members
