Position Summary:
The High School Assistant Principal supports the mission of our school by supporting the High School Principal in the leadership, coordination, supervision and management of the High School department. The Assistant Principal will report to the High School Principal.
Status: Full-Time / Exempt / 12-month
Responsibilities:
1. Seeks to model in speech, actions, and attitude, a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ.
2. Support and assist the High School Principal in the administration of his/her duties.
3. Serve as the High School Principal in the absence of the regular principal.
4. Assist the Principal in interviewing and recommending teaching faculty for hiring.
5. Assist in the direction, supervision, and evaluation of the instructional program.
6. In the event of a disaster or other emergency, supervise and care for students as specified in the Employee Handbook, Crisis Management Manual and by the VP of Finance & Operations, VP of Academics or President.
7. Responsible for administering student discipline and enforcing dress code that is outlined in the Parent/Student Handbook.
8. Partner with the Dean of Students to address discipline matters involving female students, ensuring conversations are handled with appropriate care and discretion.
9. Communicate student discipline with the Principal in a timely manner.
10. Oversee and provide a constant presence in the day-to-day functioning as related to the students.
11. Oversee and maintain the faculty management of policy enforcement and responsibilities.
12. Handle sensitive and/or confidential documents and information where judgment and discretion are essential.
13. Work with individual students to promote social growth and development while communicating with parents to address concerns.
14. Observe the Matthew 18 principle in conflict resolution. Avoid a negative, critical spirit.
15. Assist in the planning, developing and implementation of student behavior plans.
16. Assist new students with transitioning to school.
17. Monitor students who are struggling in classes.
18. Maintain absolute confidence of all privileged or sensitive information.
19. Supervise assigned staff and assist in the determination of goals to improve performance.
20. Maintain and uphold the religious standards of Faith Christian School to include the Lifestyle Statement, Staff Covenant and Statement of Faith.
21. Responsible to disciple, instruct and actively pray for the students on our campus.
22. Responsible to reinforce a Biblical Worldview in every workplace interaction with both students, staff and faculty.
23. Other duties as assigned that are closely related to this position.
Qualifications:
Must possess and model a personal authentic relationship with Jesus Christ and be a member of a Bible believing church.
Requires a calling to Christian ministry and education and a Biblically-based worldview.
Must have a high level of discernment and wisdom, shepherding capabilities and the ability to manage confidential information.
Proven leadership skills with an ongoing commitment to grow as a servant-leader, with a constant commitment to building a high performance team.
Knowledge of regulations in accordance with education environments.
Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and community members.
Ability to work independently and make decisions in accordance with the President and Board’s expectations, established school policies and procedures, and the school mission and core values.
Demonstrated ability to lead a team and manage multiple projects at one time effectively and efficiently.
Excellent technology skills and the ability to adapt to new technology.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal and relational skills.
At least 4-6 years of previous teaching experience at the High School level.
A Master’s Degree is required with at least 6-8 years of experience as a teacher or administrator.
