Job Summary
This position requires travel!
A Heavy Highway Laborer performs manual and equipment-based tasks for road construction, maintenance, and repair, including pothole patching, asphalt work, traffic control, and sign/guardrail repair, often operating loaders. They work with hand/power tools, manage materials, ensure safety, and often work as part of a crew.
This position is where we often find and train future leaders for our company.
We will train and teach you the necessary skills to help your chances for promotions and raises.
Key Responsibilities
Road Maintenance: Patching potholes, sealing cracks, applying asphalt/gravel, sweeping, and cleaning roads.
Equipment Operation: Safely operating trucks, loaders, backhoes, rollers, pavers, and/or skid loaders.
Site Upkeep: Managing traffic control (flagging, barricades).
Safety & Equipment: Performing safety checks, basic vehicle maintenance, and adhering to safety procedures.
Essential Skills & Attributes
Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy materials and work outdoors in extreme weather.
Teamwork: Effective communication and ability to work well with others.
Safety Focus: Following strict safety protocols and regulations.
Mechanical Aptitude: Basic understanding of equipment operation and maintenance.
Versatility: Willingness to perform a wide variety of manual and skilled tasks.
Job Requirements and Education
Over 18 years of age
Eligible to work in the United States
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Complete and pass pre-employment testing, including a drug screen and physical
High school education or GED equivalent
