Position Overview
We are seeking a results-oriented Sales Manager to lead our heavy transportation division. As a Heavy Transportation Sales Manager, you will be a key player in driving business growth by identifying, developing, and managing relationships with clients in need of specialized, heavy-haul transportation services while actively expanding your expertise and oversight into our towing department. This role demands an analytical, solutions-oriented mindset and a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets in a fast-paced environment. This is a highly active, field-based position—cold calling prospective clients, conducting face-to-face meetings, and building relationships on-site at customer locations. You will leverage our extensive network and capabilities to deliver tailored logistics solutions that help our customers move their most critical assets.
Essential Functions
Develop and execute annual sales plans to achieve firm targets, focusing on market expansion and pipeline management.
Spend your time in the field engaging in proactive cold calling, door-to-door prospecting, and face-to-face client meetings to generate new business opportunities.
Identify and prospect new business opportunities within the heavy transportation industry to build a robust client base, with a primary focus on yellow iron (heavy equipment) and specialized heavy-haul transportation services.
Develop and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships, understanding their unique needs and delivering exceptional service.
Collaborate with clients to create tailored, complex transportation solutions and manage the sales process from initial contact to close.
Conduct market research to stay ahead of competitors and identify emerging industry trends and opportunities within the yellow iron and heavy equipment transportation sector.
Meet or exceed assigned sales quotas and gross profit performance targets.
Work closely with internal operations, dispatch, and pricing teams to ensure seamless service delivery across the heavy transport division, with the scope of responsibility expanding to include the towing department upon mastery of those specialized operations.

Required Skills & Qualifications
5+ years of proven sales success in ground transportation logistics, specializing in yellow iron (heavy equipment) and heavy-haul transportation, is required, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
Demonstrated expertise and in-depth knowledge of yellow iron transportation, heavy equipment hauling, oversized loads, and the unique logistical challenges associated with moving heavy machinery is required.
Strong business development, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
Proven track record of success in cold calling, door-to-door prospecting, and field-based sales activities required.
Experience using CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is essential.
A bachelor’s degree in business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred; however, a minimum of 4 years of proven experience in a similar role will be accepted instead of a degree.
Ability to travel to meet with customers daily and visit other company branches.
Equipment Rentals or Equipment Sales Experience is a plus!
Fleet fuel sales are a plus
Solid understanding of DOT regulations and safety standards.
Pay
$80 to $90K/year with incentive
