Mission of the position
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Heavy Equipment Technician to perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repair on KAESER Compressors MOBILAIR Units in a field environment. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills, a commitment to safety, and a focus on exceptional customer service across various industrial and commercial sites.
Key Responsibilities & Major Job Functions
Diagnosis & Troubleshooting : Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized systems and testing equipment to determine the extent of repair required across engines, transmissions, electrical, hydraulic, and emissions systems.
Repairs & Maintenance : Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain KAESER Compressors MOBILAIR Units in a field environment. Perform preventative maintenance (oil/fluid checks, lubrication, cleaning) and repair/replace defective parts, components, and systems, including major engine overhauls.
Testing & Quality Control : Test repaired equipment to ensure performance meets or exceeds manufacturer specifications.
Customer Service : Respond to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner to maintain KAESER Compressors Canada’s Customer Service Commitment.
Documentation : Complete work orders and reports detailing problems and repairs performed.
Compliance & Safety : Ensure all work adheres to on-site safety requirements, relevant safety regulations, and environmental standards, including emissions controls.
Collaboration : Work effectively with supervisors, other technicians, and customers to explain technical issues and solutions.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
Certification : Heavy Equipment Technician Certification.
Field Experience : Demonstrated field troubleshooting skills on diesel engines and rotating equipment.
Driving Record : A clean Driver’s Abstract is required for this field-based role.
Technical Proficiency : Proficiency with hand/power tools, diagnostic software, blueprints, and service manuals.
Problem-Solving : Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex mechanical and electrical issues.
Assets / Highly Beneficial
Strong experience in Electrical, Hydraulic, and Emissions systems.
Engine and/or component rebuilding experience.
Transmission or Hydraulic testing experience.
Previous rotary equipment experience; rotary screw air compressors would be a bonus.
Work Environment & Logistics The role is field-based, requiring travel to industrial or commercial buildings across British Columbia. A minimum of one week per month travel on Vancouver Island will be required. The candidate must be physically able to work in various conditions, lift heavy parts, and stand for extended periods.
