Job Description
Sequoia Services is seeking a skilled and motivated Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic to support our construction operations. This position is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of heavy construction equipment in the field to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation on job sites.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced field environment. Experience with Caterpillar equipment is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine maintenance and inspections on heavy construction equipment
Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues
Troubleshoot equipment failures to minimize downtime
Complete preventive maintenance to improve reliability and equipment life
Repair or replace defective components in a timely manner
Maintain accurate service and maintenance records
Coordinate with site supervisors on scheduled and emergency repairs
Follow all company safety policies, OSHA standards, and environmental regulations
Order and manage tools and replacement parts as needed
Utilize CAT SIS and ET systems (preferred)
Qualifications & Requirements
5+ years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic or related field
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and transmissions
Ability to read and interpret service manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics
Proficiency with diagnostic tools and repair equipment
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Valid driver’s license with a good driving record (CDL Class B preferred)
Willingness to travel, including frequent overnight stays
Physically capable of performing field repairs in varying weather and job site conditions
Vocational or technical school training preferred
Relevant certifications a plus
Possess or willing to obtain a DOT medical card
Welding experience is a plus
