Agency Description

The Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (“CAO”) works to modernize City government and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of City services. We focus on innovating and strengthening the City’s administrative functions and enabling resident-facing departments to evaluate, plan and continually improve their service delivery. 

 

The following departments and functions report to the CAO: Human Resources and Talent, Office of Innovation and Technology, Procurement, Fleet, Public Property, Records, Office of Administrative Review, Bureau of Administrative Adjudication, Open Data and Digital Transformation, Contracting and Performance Management.  

 

The Office of Administrative Review- addresses in-person and online ticket disputes for red light camera and speed camera enforcement and code violations.  

 

Position Summary 

 

Conducting Photo Enforced Red Light, Speed Camera, and Code Violation hearings.  

• Handling in-person hearings and rendering decisions  

• Administratively reviewing hearings based on documentation submitted.  

• Reviewing documents for approval of late fee waivers and other administrative issues 

• Handling customer service issues in regard to red-light, speed camera and code violations.  

• Performing such other tasks as may be, from time to time as required by the Office of Administrative Review- such as answering the phones, fielding questions, and in- take for customer service.  

 

Essential Functions 

 

The successful candidate will be able to evaluate documents and testimony to- within applicable law- render decisions and communicate the decision to the party making the appeal.  

 

Candidate must also be able to explain process, operate ZOOM hearings, and quickly learn databases and systems.  

 

 

 

Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

 

All hearings require the use of the ticket data-bases for research of imaged documents, photographs, the transactional history, the citation itself and the entry of the Hearing Officer’s decision to uphold, reduce or dismiss any charges.  

 

Ability to quickly obtain information from a relational data-base; have good personal computer and keyboard skills.  

 

Ability to familiarize, understand and retain knowledge of certain regulations and rules regarding administrative hearings subjects such as the red-light camera and speed camera enforcement codes, and code violations. 

 

Ability to note decisions in a clear, concise language which are obtained as part of public record.  

 

 

 

Applicants must have: 

 

• A high school diploma; Bachelor’s Degree a plus. 

 

• Excellent customer service and communication skills. 

 

• Ability to work and make sound decisions in a stressful and very fast paced environment.

Salary Range: $50,000- $60,000
