What Will You Do? | Ka aha koe?
Key responsibilities will include:
Promote and facilitate Health, Safety and Wellness initiatives across all Council facilities.
Conduct regular audits, risk assessments, and document reviews.
Provide expert advice on best practice Health & Safety and legislative compliance.
Maintain and develop the Council’s Health & Safety systems, including Damstra Safety (Vault)/Ideagen)
Support emergency management planning and scenario training.
Coordinate training, wellness programmes, and H&S communications.
Lead and contribute to continuous improvement of H&S processes and procedures.
Ensure Council’s Health & Safety Handbook and documentation remain current and accessible.
Who Are You? | Ko wai koe?
We are looking for someone with:
Essential:
Tertiary qualification in Health & Safety or 3–5 years’ experience in a similar role.
Strong working knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act (HSWA).
Experience developing H&S systems, policies, and procedures.
Confident communicator with strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
Ability to manage a diverse workload and work collaboratively across teams.
Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
A current NZ driver licence and the right to work in New Zealand
Desirable:
Experience coordinating Health, Safety and Wellness programmes.
Strong presentation skills and the ability to engage staff at all levels.
Innovative mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.
