Binnie has an exciting opportunity for a Health & Safety Administrator to join our head office near scenic Deer Lake in Burnaby full-time. This position will be supervised by the Corporate Safety Officer and will formally report to the Chief Administrative Officer.
This position is primarily office-based, with occasional field, site, and office inspection requirements, with potential for increased field exposure as experience and company needs to evolve. You will champion a safety-first culture, informing staff and managers on pertinent safety issues and legislative compliance requirements.
YOUR ROLE:
Maintain and administer the company’s Safety Management System (SALUS)
Support COR audit preparation through organized documentation management and evidence tracking
Assist in maintaining safety-related content for external compliance platforms
Support bid and pre-qualification safety submissions
Track and compile monthly and quarterly safety statistics and performance metric
Monitor and follow up on safety orientation modules and training completion for new hires
Prepare materials for safety meetings, presentations, and newsletters
Assist with office inspections, emergency drills, and internal safety group
Investigate and report workplace incidents, hazardous conditions, refusal of unsafe work, and breaches of safety policy/procedure, under direction of Corporate Safety Officer
Participate in drills, safety meetings, and committee activities
Support project site visits as required
Working with others in a manner consistent with Binnie’s corporate values, including collaboration and respect
WHAT YOU BRING:
Diploma or Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety
Strong organizational and administrative skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Basic working knowledge of the OH&S Act, regulations and industry best practices and standards in BC and Alberta
Comfortable working with digital systems and data tracking tools
Strong communication skills, and attention to detail
Nice to have:
Minimum of 1 year experience in safety, compliance, or coordination role preferred
Exposure to COR or audit-based safety programs
Current OFA Intermediate certification

The salary for this position is commensurate with experience; the salary range for this position is $57,000 - $66,700 annually. The final salary for this role may vary based on several factors, including relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. Please note that the salary range provided in this job posting may be subject to change for business purposes.
