Health Information Intern
We provide primary health care through a range of options including prevention, assessment, diagnosis and treatment. Our teams include health professionals, educators, and support workers representing both traditional Indigenous and contemporary models of care, and use wholistic health and community development concepts.
This position on the IT/IS Health Data team supports our quality initiatives to measure our client data. You will work with the Health Records and Data Management groups helping to improve and organize client data, to support rostering and attachment and assist in preparing data for other systems. The role may also include light duties in the Information Technology group.
NOTE: Indigenous traditional practices involving burning sacred medicines including tobacco, sweetgrass, sage and cedar and other cultural protocols occur regularly within our work setting.
QUALIFICATIONS:
currently in a post-secondary degree or diploma program for science, business or health sciences;
familiar with computers and comfortable with Excel files and data reports.
Able to work unattended on structured tasks
interpersonal and problem-solving skills; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively;
organizational and management ability; demonstrated capacity for critical thinking, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and reporting;
deep understanding and experience of Indigenous culture, values, and perspectives and relevance in a workplace; ability to speak and understand Anishinaabemowin a definite asset;
experience working in an Indigenous organization; understanding and/or willingness to learn of Indigenous culture and values;
proof of immunization in compliance with policy requirements is mandatory;
light travel between locations in Kenora may be required;
criminal records check and current drivers’ abstract required;
commitment to ongoing training and professional development relevant to job requirements; and positive attitude and capacity to act as a healthy lifestyle role model.
Salary: $20.00 per hour.
