Health and Safety Instructor - Working at Heights Trainer

Position: Health & Safety Instructor (Working at Heights)

Employment: Full-time

Location: Ottawa, ON

Salary: $65,000-75,000 to start, DOE

Worksite Safety Compliance Centre is looking to grow our current team of instructors, specifically for the delivery of our CPO-approved Working at Heights program. This Health & Safety Instructor will deliver training full-time at one of two locations in Ottawa. There may also be an opportunity for this instructor to train others on confined space entry, first aid and/or mobile equipment use (forklift and elevated work platforms) in the future. The position reports to the Manager, Instructor-Led Training. 

As a Health & Safety Instructor your key responsibilities are:

Delivering engaging and informative Working at Heights training to job seekers, the general public and new and current members of the construction industry

Evaluating participants through practical skills and written evaluation 

Organizing, filing and submitting digital and hard copy participant records following training

Participating in team meetings and instructor development workshops

The right candidate will have the following qualifications and experience: 

3+ years experience delivering training (Working at Heights program preferred)

Background in construction management and/or other fall hazard-related industry 

Work experience or certification in occupational health & safety preferred

Forklift, mobile elevated work platforms and confined space entry and rescue considered an asset

Active certification as a Red Cross First Aid Instructor considered an asset

Strong interest educating people on the importance and value of health & safety training  

Self-starter who is able to work independently, while also contributing to a team 

Strong presentation and adult-engagement skills

Valid Ontario Driver Licence - occasional travel by car for work

Able to legally work in Canada
