Clearwater Structures Inc. is seeking an experienced and proactive Health and Safety Coordinator to support and enhance our Health and Safety Management System across assigned operations and project sites. The successful candidate will act as a key health and safety resource to management and field personnel, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, COR standards, and internal safety policies while promoting a culture of continuous improvement. *This role requires travel to project sites across Ontario.*

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Health & Safety Leadership
Serve as a primary health and safety resource to management, supervisors, and workers in our Heavy Civil, Sewer and Watermain and fabrication sectors.
Promote a proactive safety culture through engagement, coaching, empowerment and continuous improvement initiatives.
Support regional operations (Hamilton, Kitchener, GTA, Durham, Kingston and Ottawa etc.) and collaborate with corporate safety leadership as required.
Compliance & Inspections
Conduct regular workplace, project site, and equipment inspections.
Monitor subcontractor and trade contractor safety compliance and documentation.
Ensure corrective actions are implemented and tracked to completion.
Assist in Ministry of Labour visits and respond to orders or compliance requirements.
Incident Management
Lead or assist in incident, accident, and near-miss investigations.
Review medical and first aid logs and analyze trends to prevent recurrence.
Prepare detailed reports with outlining corrective and preventative action plans.
Coordinate and support Return-to-Work and modified duty programs.
Training & Documentation
Coordinate and facilitate internal safety training (WHMIS, Annual Orientation, Confined Space, etc.).
Ensure all Records of Training (ROT) are collected, tracked, and maintained.
Monitor certification expiries and compliance deadlines.
Maintain safety boards and ensure site postings meet legislative requirements.
Assist in maintaining COR™ and other audit/accreditation programs.
Program Development & Administration
Assist in developing and updating Policies, Procedures, Safe Work Practices, and Pre-Job Hazard Assessments.
Support emergency response planning and site preparedness.
Coordinate project documentation through SiteDocs and other safety management systems
Joint Health & Safety Committee
Serve as worker representative on the JHSC; support agenda preparation, documentation, and follow-up actions.
Maintain compliance with all JHSC legislative requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
Experience: Minimum 3 years experience in heavy civil construction.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of Ontario OHSA and Regulation 213/91, specifically regarding highway and bridge construction risks.
Education: Diploma or Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent experience).
Certifications: Construction JHSC Certification (Part 1 & 2) is preferred. NCSO, GSC, or equivalent designations are considered an asset.
Technical Skills: Tech Savvy with solid Microsoft Office skills, and experience with the SiteDocs compliance system.
Travel: Valid Full G Drivers License and the ability to travel within multiple regions across Ontario (including West, GTA and East)
Competencies: Strong ability to command respect (particularly regarding OHS requirements); Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to form solid working relationships with team members; Strong ability to speak confidently and present to groups; positive attitude.

Ganawa is a custom steel fabricator and full-service supplier for the bridge construction industry and various other structural steel markets. We offer extensive products and services, including the fabrication of bridge expansion joints and railing systems, and custom steel fabrication.
