Pay Rate: $16.00 - $17.00
Hours: Mon-Thurs 4-8pm, Saturday and Sunday 8am-12pm
JOB SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Aquatics Coordinator I, responsible for creating a safe, fun and educational environment for all participants enrolled in aquatics programs. The program assistant will provide pool deck support to swim lesson instructors, lessons and swim team participants and participants’ parents. Must enjoy interacting with others, as well as be extremely capable of problem diffusion, and maintaining a safe and positive environment for both guests and employees.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Familiarity with all basic swimming strokes and water safety skills.
Follow Starfish Aquatics Institute standards and guidelines for each level of lessons.
Positive and enthusiastic attitude.
Attend monthly in-service training to maintain and improve upon skills and techniques.
Ability to instruct participants of all ages and levels of swimming ability.
Ability to correct various stroke techniques of individual participants.
Flexibility to fill in and teach any level of class necessary.
Performs the job safely and in compliance with the district policies, procedures, work and safety rules.
Be familiar with the safe operation of any equipment necessary in accomplishing required tasks.
On-deck greeter for participants, members and guests.
Help facilitate communication between parents, instructors and the Aquatics Coordinator.
Make sure the pool deck is cleaned and organized at all times.
Assists in training and evaluating swim instructors.
Supervise all program staff and report issues to the Aquatics Coordinator.
Provides excellent customer service to all program participants and pool guests.
Creating a safe and fun environment for all program participants.
Ability to swim and familiar with swim programs.
Possess a current Ellis and Associates CPR certification or ability to complete before beginning the first shift.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Organize lessons equipment and storage area before and after daily classes.
Completion of all Starfish Aquatics Institute paperwork pertaining to swim lesson program.
Maintain a commitment to the operation of a safe and effective aquatics environment.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS
Must work closely with co-workers.
Must work around the general population.
Must work under supervision and direction of the Aquatics Coordinator I.
Responsible for the safety and the general public in the pool and on the pool deck including the ability to make decisions to assure safety in and around the aquatic facilities.
Work in a wide range of weather conditions which can include cold, rain, and extreme heat.
Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.

Good knowledge of pertinent safety precautions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Customer Service experience
Experience working with children
Certified Starfish Aquatics Institute Swim Instructor or able to obtain certification before teaching the first lesson.
CPR Certified or able to obtain certification before start of position.
