We are seeking a seasoned Process Safety & EHS Leader to own and drive the end-to-end Process Safety Management (PSM) framework for a high-risk manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for embedding process safety into daily operations, ensuring that all production activities are executed with safety as a non-negotiable priority. You will act as a critical decision-maker and safety gatekeeper, with the authority to halt operations if risks are not adequately controlled. The position involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to integrate safety into production, engineering, and maintenance processes while ensuring full regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in chemical process safety, strong leadership capabilities, and a hands-on approach to managing complex plant environments, driving both system-level improvements and behavioral transformation across teams.
Requirements:
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and implement the plant-wide Process Safety Management (PSM) framework including hazard identification, risk assessment, and barrier management
• Act as a safety gatekeeper with authority to stop or delay operations when risks are not mitigated
• Conduct and govern Process Hazard Analysis (HAZOP, HAZID, What-if) and ensure implementation of safeguards
• Drive risk-based decision-making using tools like LOPA and ensure effective protection layers
• Ensure strict compliance with all EHS regulations, statutory requirements, and licensing norms
• Oversee Management of Change (MOC) and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR) for all modifications and new operations
• Strengthen Permit to Work (PTW), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and safety protocols for high-risk activities
• Maintain strong shop-floor presence to monitor operations, reinforce discipline, and identify risks proactively
• Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
• Build safety capability through training, coaching, and structured interventions for operators and supervisors
• Ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and compliance of environmental systems like ETP
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, for compliance and audits
• Drive continuous improvement in safety systems, operational efficiency, and environmental performance
What Makes You a Great Fit
• 15–20+ years of experience in EHS and process safety within chemical, pharma, or manufacturing environments
• Strong hands-on expertise in PSM systems, HAZOP, HIRA, and risk assessment methodologies
• Deep understanding of chemical processes, utilities, batch operations, and industrial safety practices
• Proven ability to lead large-scale safety programs and drive cultural transformation
• Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks and compliance standards in EHS
• Demonstrated leadership in managing high-risk operations and complex plant environments
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Ability to influence cross-functional teams and enforce safety discipline
• Strong communication skills with the confidence to challenge unsafe practices
• Experience with environmental systems, waste management, and sustainability practices
• Educational background in Chemical Engineering with relevant EHS certifications preferred
