We are seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Sports to lead and elevate the school’s sports and physical education program across IB PYP, MYP, and DP levels. This role is responsible for shaping a dynamic, inclusive, and high-performing sports culture aligned with the IB philosophy of holistic development. The ideal candidate will provide strategic leadership in designing and implementing a comprehensive sports curriculum that promotes physical fitness, teamwork, well-being, and character building. Based in Bangalore, this position requires a passionate leader who can inspire students, mentor educators, and integrate sports seamlessly into the broader academic framework.
Requirements:
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage the overall sports and physical education program across PYP, MYP, and DP levels in alignment with IB philosophy
• Design and implement a structured, age-appropriate sports curriculum promoting fitness, skill development, teamwork, and holistic growth
• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate PE teachers and sports coaches to ensure high-quality instruction and performance standards
• Organize and oversee inter-house, inter-school, regional, and competitive sports events and tournaments
• Identify and nurture student talent, supporting pathways for participation in competitive and representative-level sports
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols, proper maintenance of sports facilities, and optimal utilization of equipment
• Collaborate with school leadership to integrate sports within the broader educational and co-curricular framework
• Promote a culture of sportsmanship, student well-being, inclusivity, and active participation
• Develop annual sports calendars, budgets, and program improvement plans
• Build partnerships with external coaches, academies, and sports bodies when required
What Makes You a Great Fit
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related field (B.P.Ed / M.P.Ed preferred)
• Proven experience leading and managing school sports programs
• Experience in an IB school environment is a strong advantage
• Strong understanding of holistic education and student-centered learning approaches
• Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities
• Excellent organizational and event management skills
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
• Passion for student development, well-being, and building a thriving sports culture
• Ability to inspire students and staff while maintaining high standards of discipline and performance
• Strategic mindset with the ability to align sports initiatives with institutional goals
