Job Description
Shiftmove is on a mission to transition from a decentralized group of companies into a unified, high-performance Global Finance & Accounting function. As the Head of Record-to-Report, you will be a key driver of this transformation, taking on interim leadership to build a scalable, group-first reporting engine.
Your success will be defined by your ability to lead both a cultural and technical shift, moving teams away from legacy local workflows toward a standardized, tech-forward operating model.
The strategic challenge
Our accounting environment spans multiple entities, high workloads, and increasing expectations for speed, quality, and compliance. We need a leader who can stabilize and professionalize month-end and year-end close while raising the bar on accounting quality across Local GAAP and group reporting needs. You’ll own audit readiness by strengthening internal controls, documentation, and evidence, so audits run smoothly and issues close fast. We’re looking for someone who can break the “status quo” mindset and drive adoption of group standards and modern tools like NetSuite to reduce manual work and improve reliability.
Key responsibilities
• The IFRS Pivot: Lead the operational transition from "Local GAAP first" reporting to an IFRS-first model, ensuring teams perform primary bookings in IFRS while managing local adjustments for tax and statutory needs.
• Systems Transformation: Act as a champion for our group-wide migration from legacy systems (DATEV, Sage) to NetSuite, ensuring teams are trained, motivated, and supported through the transition.
• Change Leadership: Transform the mindset of the DACH and French accounting teams, fostering an environment where innovation and technical proficiency are celebrated rather than avoided.
• Process Standardization: Define and implement standardized group-wide processes for the Chart of Accounts, General Ledger, period-end closing, and intercompany eliminations.
• Operational Excellence: Ensure accurate and compliant financial reporting to support group-wide decision-making and meet all regulatory requirements.
• Collaboration: Partner closely with the Finance Systems, IFRS & Consolidation team to align operational bookings with corporate reporting and audit standards.
Who you are
• Change-oriented leader: not a “caretaker” accountant, someone who enjoys moving people and processes from Point A to Point B.
• Tech-savvy: comfortable leveraging finance systems; NetSuite experience is a strong plus, but the adoption mindset matters most.
• Strong technical foundation: deep understanding of IFRS and the ability to translate principles into operational reality across entities.
• Resilient & empathetic: able to navigate resistance, create clarity, and build momentum in demanding environments.
• International mindset: confident leading across cultures, especially in DACH and France.
• Languages: English is our company language, fluent German is preferred.
What’s in it for you
• High-impact role at the center of integration, standardization, audit readiness, and finance transformation in a profitable, PE-backed scale-up with ambitious growth targets.
• Flexible work setup: location across Wroclaw, Berlin, Paris, or Aix-en-Provence reporting to the Director of Finance, international environment (40+ nationalities)
• Benefits: 30 vacation days, hybrid work, workation up to 12 weeks, annual learning budget, Urban Sports/benefits options, and wellbeing support (incl. mental health day + Nilo.health).
