About the Job
The Director of Pragmatic Evidence and Implementation Science will lead a critical operational and supportive function that directly impacts the generation of evidence that shapes regulatory decisions, payer negotiations, and clinical practice. As regulatory bodies and payers increasingly demand pragmatic data to supplement clinical trials, this role has become central to support our commercial success and market access strategy. The position will drive the implementation of Sanofi's ambitious pragmatic data projects.

Generation of Pragmatic data and implementation science have evolved from complementary set of data to directly influences:
Regulatory approvals and label expansions
Pricing and reimbursement negotiations
Clinical practice guidelines and formulary decisions
Product differentiation in increasingly competitive therapeutic areas
This operational role is pivotal to support Sanofi's future as we navigate an evidence-based healthcare environment where pragmatic data is no longer optional but essential for access and clinical adoption.
Main responsibilities:
Strategic Portfolio Management (35%)
Oversee the execution of 15-20 concurrent pragmatic studies
Prioritize and allocate resources within BO across teams to maximize business impact and scientific ROI
Implement innovative study designs that deliver compelling evidence at optimized cost
Drive efficiency initiatives to reduce study timelines by 20-30% and costs by 15-20%
Cross-functional Leadership (25%)
Lead a matrix organization of 30-40 professionals across BO teams; contributing to pragmatic evidence and implementation science projects
Support Market Access to ensure data directly addresses payer evidence requirements
Execute upon Regulatory Affairs demands on pragmatic data components of regulatory submissions
Support Medical Affairs to translate pragmatic evidence into scientific communications and medical education
Engage with Digital and Data Sciences to implement advanced analytics capabilities
Operational Excellence (20%)
Establish best-in-class operational processes that set industry standards for Pragmatic Evidence and Implementation Science execution
Implement a robust vendor management strategy across CROs and data providers
Drive adoption of innovative technologies to accelerate study execution and reduce costs
Develop standardized approaches for rapid-cycle data generation to address emerging evidence needs
Team Development (10%)
Build and lead a high-performing team of 8-10 pragmatic evidence specialists in BO
Implement talent development strategies to address critical skill gaps in pragmatic studies methodology
Create career pathways that attract and retain top talent in this competitive specialty
Strategic Input and Reporting (10%)
Provide regular updates to BO Medical Committee on Pragmatic Science portfolio performance and business impact
Support the GBUs long-range planning for evidence generation across the product portfolio in full collaboration with GBUs
About you
Education
Advanced degree (MSc, PhD, PharmD, MD) in Epidemiology, Public Health, Health Economics, or related field
Business training or MBA is highly desirable
Experience
10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical industry with progressive responsibility in pragmatic evidence or related fields like implementation science
Demonstrated success in managing large-scale pragmatic programs with significant budget responsibility
Experience translating real world data into successful regulatory submissions, HTA dossiers, or payer negotiations
Track record of implementing operational excellence initiatives that delivered measurable business impact
Experience building and leading teams
Knowledge & Skills
Strategic understanding of the evolving real world data landscape and its business implications
Strong financial acumen with experience managing multi-million euro budgets
Excellent leadership skills with ability to influence senior stakeholders
Deep knowledge of diverse pragmatic studies methodologies and their applications
Proven ability to translate complex scientific concepts into business value
IMPACT METRICS - Success in this role will be measured by:
Delivery of 90%+ of pragmatic evidence projects on time and within budget
Achievement of 15-20% efficiency gains in operations
Successful delivery of real world evidence support in relevant regulatory submissions and/or HTA dossiers
Demonstrable contribution to Pragamtic evidence programs managed by the GBUs
Development of 3-5 innovative study methodology approaches that create competitive advantage
