Job Description
The APC exists to accelerate athlete performance and create a competitive advantage for Red Bull athletes.  As Head of Mental Performance, you lead and develop Mental Performance, ensuring it delivers impactful, practical support across Red Bull performance environments.
You are responsible for identifying key mental performance factors, translating insights into actionable strategies, and working directly with athletes to improve resilience, self-regulation, mental fitness, mental health, and performance under pressure. A central part of the role is to coordinate and deliver mental performance support across athletes, teams, and projects, while aligning with existing support structures.
You collaborate closely with coaching staff, performance staff, and the athlete health department to ensure mental performance, mental health, and mental fitness principles are applied in training and competition environments. You also establish and manage relationships with external partners across neuroscience, technology, research, and sport science to strengthen delivery and innovation.
In this role, you drive the ongoing development and alignment of mental performance approaches across Red Bull sports entities.
IN A NUTSHELL
You lead and develop Mental Performance across multi-methodological, developmental, organisational, and strategic areas, ensuring consistent and high-quality delivery across Red Bull performance environments.
You assess athletes’ mental performance characteristics using multi-dimensional and multi-method approaches, including cognitive and emotional processes, motivational aspects, and personality-related factors, and translate insights into practical intervention and training strategies.
You support the development of individual athlete profiling frameworks to identify strengths, developmental areas, behavioural patterns, and performance needs across different performance environments.
You explore areas for innovation and transformation through emerging technologies, AI-supported approaches, neuroscience, and sport science applications to strengthen the integration of assessment, profiling, intervention, and mental performance training.
Together with your team, you support the development and alignment of mental performance approaches across Red Bull sport entities beyond the APC
Master's degree (or higher) in Sport Psychology or related field
Extensive experience working with elite athletes across individual and team environments (10+ years)
Proven experience leading a team and managing internal and external collaborations
Experience working effectively within interdisciplinary performance environments
Strong understanding of high-performance sport and athlete demands
Ability to translate theory and insight into practical, applied solutions
Strong communication, organisational, and analytical skills
Personal experience in competitive/elite sports preferred.
Experience developing and delivering applied mental performance strategies
Experience or strong interest in the usage of innovative and emerging tools within high-performance environments
Ability to integrate assessment, profiling, and intervention approaches using evidence-informed and technology-supported methodologies
High level of English Proficiency (written and verbal), German and/or additional languages are a plus
Due to legal reasons we are obliged to disclose the minimum salary according to the collective agreement for this position (EUR 4.314). However, our attractive compensation package is based on market-oriented salaries and is therefore significantly above the stated minimum salary.
