Role Overview
State Street is seeking a Head of IT for Brazil to lead and oversee technology delivery, operations, and strategy for the local market. This role is responsible for ensuring that technology platforms effectively support the Capital Markets business while meeting global standards for security, resilience, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
The successful candidate will operate as a senior technology leader and trusted partner to business stakeholders, with the ability to engage at the executive level while also supporting technology teams with day‑to‑day operational needs. This role requires strong judgment, deep understanding of financial markets technology, and experience working within a large, highly regulated international bank.
Key Responsibilities
Business & Stakeholder Engagement
• Act as the primary IT senior leader for State Street Brazil, partnering closely with local business leaders and regional/global technology teams.
• Engage effectively with Capital Markets, Operations, Risk, Finance, and Compliance stakeholders, translating business priorities into technology outcomes.
• Represent Brazil IT in regional and global forums, ensuring local needs are understood and aligned with enterprise strategy.
• Provide clear communication and leadership during incidents, change initiatives, audits, and regulatory engagements.
Technology Leadership & Strategy
• Assess the current technology landscape across applications, infrastructure, data, and vendor platforms supporting the Brazil business.
• Define and execute a target-state technology strategy aligned with State Street’s global architecture, modernization initiatives, and risk standards.
• Drive simplification, standardization, and modernization while balancing local regulatory and business requirements.
• Oversee technology delivery, service reliability, and operational stability for in-scope platforms.
People & Operational Management
• Lead and support local IT teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Provide hands-on leadership to address day-to-day technology needs, escalations, and operational challenges.
• Develop and retain technology talent, ensuring skills align with current and future business needs.
• Manage vendor relationships and third-party providers in line with State Street policies.
Risk, Audit & Regulatory Management
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, regulatory expectations, and State Street policies.
• Partner with Risk, Compliance, and Audit teams to support internal audits, regulatory exams, and remediation activities.
• Maintain strong governance over technology risk, including resiliency, cybersecurity, data protection, and change management.
Global Alignment
• Operate effectively within a matrixed, global organization, balancing local autonomy with global standards.
• Understand and navigate the nuances of working within a large international bank, including regulatory, cultural, and operational differences.
• Ensure Brazil IT remains aligned with State Street’s global technology roadmaps and investment priorities.
Required Qualifications & Experience
• Significant experience in Information Technology leadership, preferably within Capital Markets, financial services, or banking.
• Strong understanding of capital markets businesses and supporting technology platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to operate at both strategic and execution levels.
• Proven experience engaging senior business stakeholders and influencing outcomes.
• Solid background working in regulated environments, including audits and regulatory interactions.
• Experience working within a global, matrixed organization.
• Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to balance governance and control with pragmatic delivery.
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior experience working in or supporting Latin American markets.
• Exposure to global banking technology standards, policies, and operating models.
• Experience leading technology transformation or platform modernization initiatives
