About the Company
Fixa is building the HR and financial infrastructure for Africa’s informal and blue-collar workforce. Our platform supports businesses in construction, manufacturing, agriculture, and other labor-intensive sectors with powerful tools for workforce management, payroll, payments, and financial services.
About the Role
We are looking for a Head of Finance who will lead Fixa’s financial strategy, systems, and team as the company scales across markets. This role combines strong technical finance expertise with hands-on operational leadership in a high-growth fintech environment.
Core Responsibilities
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial modeling
• Build and manage a high-performing finance team
• Partner closely with Product and Engineering to design and improve internal financial systems and reconciliation workflows
• Oversee financial reporting, investor updates, and board materials
• Drive unit economics, clarity, and support strategic decision-making
• Ensure regulatory compliance across multi-market operations
Qualifications
• 8–9 years total experience; qualified accountant (ACCA, CPA, CA or equivalent)
• 2–5 years at a rapidly scaling fintech (e.g., companies like Paystack, Impeza or similar growth-stage African fintechs)
• Currently a Finance Manager or Senior Finance Manager, ready for VP/Head of Finance progression
• Proven experience building finance teams and implementing scalable systems
• Strong cross-functional experience with product and tech teams
• Comfortable operating in Pan-African, multi-currency environments
Success Indicators
• Clean, timely, and reliable monthly reporting with zero surprises
• Clear visibility into cash runway, burn, and capital needs at all times
• Strong financial controls with minimal reconciliation gaps or audit issues
• Unit economics are clearly defined, tracked, and used in leadership decisions
• Finance systems that scale seamlessly as transaction volume and markets grow
• A high-performing finance team that operates independently and proactively
• Investors and board members express strong confidence in financial clarity and discipline
