Head of Finance

Join our team as Head of Finance and help virtualize biological experiments to accelerate discovery! 

We are on a hunt for a kickass Head of Finance to help us strengthen and elevate our finance function and to take the leadership of our finance team (4 FTEs). The role has full ownership and scope of the entire finance function reporting to the CFO, with special emphasis on FP&A to help the company navigate on its journey beyond the recent Series B round.  

This role is perfectly suited for an ambitious, hands-on professional seeking to elevate their career by taking on financial management responsibility within a scale-up on its path to complex big pharma collaborations, while Finance is there as a business partner to foster this internal transformation from an R&D-first to a more balanced commercial and R&D oriented organization. 

What will you do? 

Lead all finance functions, including Accounting, Controlling, FP&A, Treasury, Tax, AR/AP 

Act as a key business partner to the CFO and Leadership team, providing strategic insights and data-driven recommendations 

Support long-term planning and business transformation initiatives to achieve growth and profitability targets 

Oversee annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and financial planning processes, ensuring alignment with business priorities 

Ensure full compliance with local regulatory, tax, and legal requirements, maintaining the highest standards of financial governance 

Oversee audits, statutory filings, and internal controls to ensure accuracy, transparency, and risk mitigation 

Manage cash flow, liquidity, and capital allocation to support operational and strategic objectives 

Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team (4 FTEs: FP&A Manager, FP&A Architect, Chief Accountant, Junior Accountant), fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and collaboration 

Promote cross-functional cooperation and act as a role model for ethical leadership and integrity 

Represent the finance function in external engagements with auditors and external service providers 

What are we looking for? 

10+ years of progressive experience in the Finance domain, 3+ years of leadership experience in full-spectrum finance management (Finance Lead, Finance Manager, Head of Finance, or equivalent) 

Recent Startup / Scale-up / SMB experience ie. working in a fast-paced, nimble, sometimes chaotic and high-pressure environment – large corporations and SSCs are not preferred 

Strategic and commercial mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities 

Deep understanding of financial regulations, accounting standards, and compliance frameworks; HAS and UK GAAP/IFRS knowledge is required 

Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills 

Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel; familiarity with digital finance tools and automation technologies 

Bachelor/Master’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field 

Fluency in English; Hungarian proficiency is an advantage 

Nice to have… 

Have experience with R&D grant applications and administration (both HU and EU agencies) 

Know the world of venture capital and how a fundraising looks like, how a venture-backed company operates 

Hold a CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional certification
