Head of Engineering (BackEnd)

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Head of Engineering to lead our Backend Development function in the retail domain. This role requires a hands-on leader who is deeply passionate about technology, stays ahead of industry trends, and drives innovation across backend, frontend, and mobile platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in software engineering, data-driven decision-making, and a proven ability to build scalable, high-performing systems.

Responsibilities

• Technology Leadership:
• Define and execute the engineering strategy aligned with business goals.
• Stay updated with emerging technologies, frameworks, and best practices to ensure continuous innovation.

• Team Management & Development:
• Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing engineering team across Backend Development.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, agility, and technical excellence.

• Architecture & Development:
• Oversee design and development of robust, scalable, and secure systems for retail applications.
• Ensure seamless integration across platforms and maintain high standards of code quality.

• Data-Driven Approach:
• Collaborate with data teams to leverage analytics for product optimization and customer insights.
• Implement data-driven engineering practices to improve performance and decision-making.

• Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
• Drive adoption of modern tools, cloud technologies, and automation.
• Champion best practices in CI/CD, DevOps, and software lifecycle management.

Requirements:
• Technical Expertise:

• Strong background in backend development (e.g., Python,TypeScript, etc.).
• Solid understanding of data architecture, analytics, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

Leadership Experience:

• Minimum 10+ years in software engineering with at least 5 years in leadership roles.
• Proven track record of managing large engineering teams and delivering complex projects.

Retail Domain Knowledge:

• Experience in retail technology solutions (e-commerce platforms, POS systems, inventory management, etc.) is highly desirable.

Soft Skills:

• Strong communication, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.
