Job Description
Keystone is a premier economics, technology, and strategy consulting firm built to help companies lead through transformation. As breakthrough innovations reshape industries,
redefine competition and change our society, complex and highly competitive ecosystems emerge. Keystone advises technology leaders, Fortune 100 companies, their legal counsel, and
governments on business, economic, litigation, and regulatory strategy in relation to these innovations and competitive eco-systems. We operate globally from offices in New York, Boston, San Francisco, Seattle, London, Dubai, and Washington, D.C.
The company recently announced a major investment partnership, further cementing its growth. As Head of Communications, you will work closely with the CEO to define the voice of Keystone — both internally and externally — and create a comprehensive communications and PR strategy from the ground up as Keystone expands our global footprint.
About the Head of Communications Role
The Head of Communications will build Keystone’s communications function from the ground up, and establish the department as a strategic, trusted partner to the business. Within the first year, the Head of Communications will define a clear and cohesive communications strategy and sharpen Keystone’s brand narrative and voice. This role will be a go-to advisor for senior leadership, and we’re seeking a nimble operator who can quickly place the processes, frameworks, and metrics needed to execute consistently across channels, as well as align with overall marketing and brand objectives.
As we continue to grow, we will need vision to elevate internal communications and events that engage and inspire employees, but also to share Keystone’s story externally — helping us attract and engage new clients and talent, and showcase our thought leadership, as we expand our global footprint. This role is our chief storyteller who will help the firm, Keystone, tell its story with clarity, credibility, and confidence. You will also lead, as co-Executive Producer, with the CEO, Keystone’s monthly Firm Wide Update.
Key Responsibilities
• Create, develop, and lead Keystone’s communications, in alignment with overall marketing and brand objectives
• Partner with the CEO, senior leadership, and editorial leads to align on brand voice, messaging frameworks, and narrative consistency across all internal and external communications
• Develop and oversee a comprehensive PR strategy, including objectives, story placement, press releases, executive visibility, and thought leadership initiatives
• Collaborate closely with Marketing leadership to support go-to-market initiatives through compelling storytelling, messaging, and collateral development
• Lead the monthly Firm-Wide Update, partnering with Facilities, IT, and senior leaders to deliver polished, engaging, and professional company-wide events
• Work with editorial and marketing teams to deliver a cohesive content strategy across channels (website, blog, social, email, press, internal comms), ensuring cohesive brand voice, clarity, relevance, and impact
• Serve as a trusted senior advisor to executives on communications strategy, messaging, and reputational considerations
• Own crisis communications planning and response, acting as the central point of coordination when situations arise
• Translate complex ideas, products, and strategies into clear, audience-appropriate messaging for a wide range of stakeholders
• Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment and consistency across all communications efforts
• Define goals, metrics, and reporting for communications effectiveness, using insights to continuously optimize performance
• Stay current on industry trends, media landscape shifts, and communications best practices to keep Keystone’s approach innovative and effective
What You’ll Bring
• 10+ years of experience in communications, PR, or brand leadership
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or similar fields, or related experience
• Exceptional writer and editor; able to make complex products, ideas, or strategies accessible
• Previously owned all, or a significant component of a company-wide communications or PR strategy
• Comfortable defining narratives, priorities, and tradeoffs as both a strategic architect and hands-on editor
• Direct experience partnering with a CEO or founders, with examples of shaping executive narratives or thought leadership
• Comfort translating strategy into messaging, decks, and collateral
• Aligning multiple teams around a single narrative
• Experience in a growth-stage or complex organization, operating in in ambiguous, fast-moving situations
• Experience managing agencies and press cycles
• Ownership of firm-wide updates, town halls, or all-hands, including coordinating across Facilities, IT, and leadership
• Experience with comms dashboards, reporting, or OKRs
• Awareness of media trends, platform shifts, and best practices - has experimented with new formats or channels
