The Head, North American Provisioning & Risk Analytics is accountable for leading credit loss provisioning and advanced analytics for Retail and Business Banking portfolios across North America. This role provides deep subject matter expertise in credit loss forecasting, model oversight, portfolio analytics, and risk insights in support of financial reporting, risk management, and enterprise governance.
The role operates at a senior, enterprise-wide level and partners closely with Risk, Finance, Collections, and business leaders to ensure accurate, transparent, and well-governed provisioning outcomes under applicable regulatory frameworks (e.g., CECL, IFRS).
Key Accountabilities
• Lead credit loss provisioning and forecasting activities across North American Retail and Business Banking portfolios, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and regulatory compliance.
• Oversee credit loss estimation, recovery analytics, and model performance, ensuring alignment with portfolio characteristics and macroeconomic conditions.
• Lead scenario-based loss analytics, stress testing, and forward-looking assessments to inform portfolio risk insights and financial outcomes.
• Provide expert oversight of provisioning models, methodologies, assumptions, and controls, supporting audit, model risk, and regulatory expectations.
• Lead integration of provisioning analytics for new portfolios and acquisitions, identifying gaps, best practices, and capacity requirements.
• Drive standardization and consistency of provisioning approaches across Retail entities to support risk appetite measurement and management.
• Define business requirements for provisioning analytics, reporting, and data infrastructure to enable high‑quality insights and decision support.
• Provide second-line oversight and analytical challenge related to Collections performance and outcomes.
• Partner with Finance, Risk, and business teams to assess the credit loss impact of portfolio changes, asset movements, or operating decisions.
• Act as a senior subject matter expert on provisioning and credit loss analytics, providing guidance and effective challenge to stakeholders.
• Operate as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on credit loss trends, emerging risks, and portfolio performance.
Leadership & Governance
• Lead and develop a high-performing team with diverse risk, analytics, and business expertise.
• Foster a strong risk culture by promoting accountability, transparency, and constructive challenge.
• Ensure activities comply with the Bank’s Risk Appetite framework, internal policies, and all applicable regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to enterprise governance through participation in relevant committees, forums, and reviews as a senior specialist resource.
• Promote continuous improvement, automation, and simplicity in provisioning and analytics processes.

Qualifications
• Typically, 9+ years of progressive experience in credit risk, provisioning, analytics, or related disciplines.
• Post-secondary degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Deep expertise in credit loss provisioning frameworks and analytics.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making skills.
• Exceptional communication and influencing skills with senior stakeholders.
• Proven ability to operate effectively in complex, regulated environments and manage ambiguity.
• Recognized technical leader with strong industry knowledge.
Please note the base salary range for this position is Cdn $165K to Cdn $195K

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
