[HCM] Data Engineer

4P’s, headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, operates 40 worldwide restaurants. Our main restaurant, Pizza 4P’s, has 35 stores in Vietnam and manages global franchises like IPPUDO and ABOUT LIFE COFFEE BREWERS. Our core products are food and beverages, specifically pizza, with key differentiators of "House-made cheeses", "Earth-to-people" and "Omotenashi" hospitality.

I. ROLE PURPOSE

The Data Engineer designs, builds, and maintains modern data architecture and scalable pipelines to ensure high data quality and reliability, supporting business intelligence and analytics across restaurant operations, customer engagement, and supply chain management.

II. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Data Architecture & Pipeline Engineering

• Design, build, operate, and evolve modern data architecture to ensure scalability, reliability, and adaptability.

• Develop, optimize, and fine-tune ETL/ELT pipelines and workflows to integrate data from multiple systems.

• Implement data collection processes from various sources including POS systems, online ordering, and inventory management.

• Ensure high performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency in all data processing workflows.

2. Database Management & Optimization

• Create and maintain data warehouses and data lakes to support business intelligence and analytics needs.

• Experience with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra).

• Manage and optimize database and data warehouse performance, including query optimization and indexing strategies.

• Ensure fast, efficient, and reliable data retrieval for cross-functional stakeholders.

3. Governance, Documentation & Mentorship

• Build and maintain comprehensive data documentation, including data dictionaries and flow diagrams.

• Ensure data quality, security, and compliance by implementing best practices and governance policies.

• Mentor and guide the development team on data management best practices and database design.

• Support additional tasks as assigned by the line manager to contribute to organizational success.

III. SUCCESS METRICS & KPIS

1. Data Pipeline Reliability & Performance

• Measure the uptime and efficiency of ETL/ELT processes.

• % reduction in data processing latency

• System uptime for critical data pipelines

2. Data Quality & Governance

• Number of data quality incidents reported per quarter

• Track the accuracy and security of integrated data across platforms.

• Completion rate of data documentation for new architecture

3. Infrastructure Optimization

• % improvement in query response times

• Measure the cost-efficiency and retrieval speed of data warehouses.

• Cost per TB of data processed/stored vs. budget

IV. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education Background Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Data Science, or related field Preferred: Relevant certifications in Cloud Architecture or Data Engineering

Language Proficiency Required: English – Proficient (written and verbal) for technical documentation and communication

Minimum Experience Duration 1+ years of experience

Relevant Experience Required: Experience in Data Engineering or Analytics Engineering; building/maintaining scalable pipelines; CI/CD; Modern Data Stack.

Preferred: Experience with DataOps, DevOps, and machine learning productionization.

Stakeholder Influence & Collaboration Required: Ability to communicate technical concepts to cross-functional teams and mentor junior developers.

Industry or Domain Expertise

• Required: Strong technical background in distributed data processing.

• Preferred: Experience in F&B, hospitality, or service-driven industries; knowledge of POS systems.
