We are a prominent mid-size law firm with a high-volume practice looking to increase its talented ranks of attorneys by adding an Associate Attorney to its Guardianship and Elder Law Department.
Successful Candidate
The candidate will have experience in all phases of litigation, including drafting pleadings, legal research, motion practice, and making frequent court appearances, both remotely and in person, in a variety of venues.
The candidate should have experience with Mental Hygiene Law Article 81 guardianship proceedings, including both contested and uncontested matters, as well as familiarity with Medicaid planning, eligibility, and public benefits advocacy. The role also offers meaningful opportunities to practice before the Surrogate’s Court and the Supreme Court.
The ideal candidate will appreciate the importance of effective advocacy on behalf of elderly individuals, individuals with developmental disabilities, and those requiring long term care planning and public benefits assistance.
The candidate must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate concisely and persuasively. Sound judgment, professionalism, and personability are essential, as the position involves frequent interaction with clients, court personnel, and adversaries. A strong work ethic and a genuine interest in working as part of a supportive and collaborative team are required. This is an in‑person position based out of our Lake Success office. The role requires a full five‑day per week in‑office presence.
What You Will Need To Have
Juris Doctor degree (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
Licensed to practice law in New York State.
Years of experience in guardianship, elder law, Medicaid planning, or a related practice area. Preferably 4+ years of experience.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Demonstrated ability to be flexible and effectively prioritize work tasks.
Comfortable working with all levels of business professionals, including senior management and colleagues across departments, in a fast-paced environment.
