About the team:

Luno is a market leading crypto exchange on a mission to put the power of crypto into everyone’s hands. You will report to Louis van Wyk in the Treasury team, based in Cape Town. This is an amazing opportunity to join a talented and collaborative Finance function.

The role in a nutshell:

• You will form part of our Treasury team, supporting all cash and liquidity related needs powering Luno’s business.

• You’ll work closely with our financial planning & analysis, and finance reporting and control teams across our broader Finance function, as well as collaborating with our Engineering, Product and Operations teams across the business.

• You'll take ownership of group wide treasury operations, bringing structure, rigour and strategic thinking to a fast-moving, high-growth environment.

Your mission will be:

• Develop and Oversee Cryptocurrency P&L Liquidation Strategy:

• Lead the development and execution of strategies for liquidating cryptocurrency positions to optimise profit and mitigate risk.

• Manage foreign exchange and cryptocurrency exposure, ensuring alignment with overall financial objectives.

• Funding and Liquidity Management:

• Forecast and manage fiat and cryptocurrency liquidity needs across various platforms and venues.

• Implement strategies to optimise funding efficiency and minimise liquidity risk.

• Process Automation and Support:

• Drive automation of key treasury processes supporting our various products

• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to actively support new product launches and enhancements.

• Relationship Management and Expansion:

• Liaise with existing and new bank and payment providers to ensure smooth operations.

• Support business expansion into new countries by establishing relationships with relevant financial partners.

• Compliance and Regulatory Oversight:

• Oversee annual KYC refreshers for existing banking and liquidity partners.

• Lead the onboarding process for new partners while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

• Create, update and or monitor Treasury operational policies; establish and manage compliance and controls for Treasury operations and support internal and external audit requirements.

• Nice to have: VASP/crypto regulatory compliance exposure (e.g., MiCA, FSCA, or equivalent)

• Financial Analysis and Reporting:

• Prepare financial analysis and calculations for licensing requirements across all regions.

• Distribute performance metrics to relevant stakeholders and provide insights for decision-making.

• Cryptocurrency Custody and Compliance:

• Oversee operations with third-party crypto custody providers and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements in various markets.

• System Maintenance:

• Maintain the Treasury management system used for fiat and crypto reporting, ensuring accuracy and reliability.

What you'll bring:

• Bachelor’s in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics or related discipline. Advanced degree in a related area preferred (CA(SA) or CIMA/CGMA preferred)

• 4-5 years of work experience within a Finance or Treasury function

• Experience with on-chain treasury operations and/or crypto custody frameworks

• Familiarity with exchange/liquidity provider liquidity and settlement flows

• Ability to interact, influence and build relationships at all levels of seniority and across all functions within an organisation.

• Must be a self-starter, a strong team player, have attention to detail, take ownership of initiatives, possess strong prioritisation and organisation skills and be able to work in a fast-paced environment while handling multiple projects simultaneously.

• Comfortable operating with ambiguity and driving process improvement in a scaling organisation, a strong sense of responsibility and a very high level of integrity

• Must have highly effective verbal, written, and presentation skills to articulate ideas and plans clearly, accurately, and effectively with all levels of internal and external audiences

• Confidence in a Hybrid Working Environment

• Friendly, transparent, articulate and driven to succeed

• Efficient in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets and other Microsoft/G-Suite products.

• Nice to have: Previous experience building out and or using treasury management software
