We are a 164-room hotel & conference centre located in Canmore, AB.
We offer over 10,000 sq ft of meeting/conference space.
We are seeking a qualified Group Sales Manager to secure conferences and meetings in our newly renovated space.
The ideal candidate MUST have experience in hotel sales and groups selling experience with all market segments, including Associations, Unions, Corporate, SMERF and Government markets.
The position is located in Canmore with the potential to move to a hybrid position after training. The expectation after training is a minimum of 3 days in the office in Canmore.
Duties & Responsibilities to include:
Sells group business for the hotel with a primary focus on groups under 50 on all market segments including associations, government, corporate, SMERF and union markets.
Effectively and efficiently prepares proposals and client contracts following the Hotels timelines and procedures.
Responsible for achieving financial targets for sales in assigned group markets & catering segments. Including identifying opportunities for increasing revenues and market share for the assigned markets.
Proactively prospect, qualify and solicit new and repeat business using appropriate selling techniques.
Prepare client proposals and contracts with accurate and timely processing and details and maintain up to date client records.
Monitors quality of work and ensures operational standards are met (yield management practices are followed by both rooms and catering to maximum revenues and meet approved sales targets).
Superior customer service skills – including listening to and understanding needs of clients, anticipating and addressing concerns and requirements of clients and looking for opportunities to exceed expectations.
Conducts hotel site tours.
Attends and participates in sales and revenue meetings.
Organize and participate in sales calls, sales trips, and tradeshows. Professionally represents the hotel at Tradeshows, industry functions and community events as needed.
Communicate and work with all departments to provide the highest quality of service possible to groups and guests.
Support and covers relief for other members of the sales and catering team.
Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established policies and procedures to achieve the overall objectives of this position
Qualifications:
3 years of related Group Sales experience with experience in hotel sales
Advanced interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent attention to detail and organization skills
Ability to multitask and meet multiple deadlines
Able to work independently, self-motivated
Proven “go getter” attitude
Demonstrated excellence in guest satisfaction and ability to sell hotel services
Knowledge of hotel sales and catering processes from start to finish required.
Team player, flexible and energetic with the ability to work independently
Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Suite - Word, Excel and Outlook required
Hospitality or Sales Diploma or Certificate is an asset
Must have a driver’s license and be able to drive a car to participate to tradeshows and other sales activities within Alberta.
