Job Description
Syngenta Group, a global leader in agricultural technology and innovation, employs 60,000 people across more than 100 countries to transform agriculture through tailor-made solutions for farmers, society, and our planet. Our diverse portfolio encompasses seeds, crop protection, nutrition products, agronomic solutions, and digital services, all designed to help farmers produce healthy food, feed, fiber, and fuel while conserving natural resources and protecting the environment. Our mission is to address critical challenges such as climate change and food security through sustainable practices and cutting-edge solutions, while safeguarding the planet's resources.
We are looking for a Group Financial Accountant to join our Group Financial Reporting team, based in Guildford. This is a high-impact, global role where you'll take ownership of critical reporting areas across both IFRS and PRC GAAP frameworks - including end-to-end responsibility for SASAC regulatory submissions for Syngenta AG and Syngenta Group.
You'll work closely with finance teams in China, global business leads, external auditors, and senior stakeholders - making this a genuinely international and technically stretching position.
Responsibilities/accountabilities will also include:
• Own the end-to-end SASAC reporting process - monthly, quarterly, annual, and budget packages - and serve as the primary point of contact for SASAC queries
• Support consolidation monitoring and reporting activities across all reporting cycles for Syngenta AG and Syngenta Group
• Prepare analyses, accounting treatment discussions, and presentations on complex transactions for internal stakeholders
• Ensure full compliance with IFRS and PRC GAAP reporting standards
• Drive process improvements and automation in reporting systems
• Collaborate effectively with Syngenta's China-based finance teams, A2R leads, treasury, and external auditors
Qualifications and required experience:
Essential:
• Professional accounting qualification (ACA or equivalent) and strong understanding of IFRS
• Experience in accounting, financial reporting, or external audit - ideally at a multinational or Big 4 firm
• Proven ability to work in multicultural, international environments with a global scope - you'll be reporting across Syngenta AG and Syngenta Group, with direct exposure to senior stakeholders and external auditors
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines
• Excellent written and spoken English; strong Excel skills
Advantageous:
• Knowledge of PRC GAAP and/or SASAC reporting requirements
• Experience in group consolidation processes and reporting
• Familiarity with consolidation tools such as SBFC or Tagetik
• Background in technical accounting
What we offer
• Extensive benefits package including a generous pension scheme, bonus scheme, private medical & life insurance.
• Up to 31.5 days annual holiday.
• We offer a position which contributes to valuable and impactful work in a stimulating and international environment.
• Learning culture and wide range of training options.
