Located in beautiful Danville, Virginia, Danville Family Vet is a fully equipped veterinary hospital and pet hotel, staffed with an experienced and professional team. Role responsibilities and skills:

● Professionally perform grooming services as requested by owners and in accordance with company procedures including bathing, brushing, clipping, nail trims and inspection of cats and dogs.
● Interact professionally and effectively through verbal and written communication
● Confirming and booking appointments over the phone in an efficient and professional manner
● Operate grooming instruments including shears, clippers and dryers.
● Gland expression may be required (we will need to check on this for vet clinic as may just be done by techs in clinic and not groomers)
● Must be able to work weekends
● Must be able to move/lift animals and merchandise up to 50 pounds
● Ensure OSE standards are maintained in the department
● Providing and keeping a clean and safe environment for the pets in our care in the salon
● Position requires bending, kneeling, lifting and standing for long periods of time.
● A large amount of time will be spent in direct contact with our pet owners and their pets and the remaining time will be with the salon team
● The work environment can be noisy and wet.

Essential Job Functions: The following are the essential duties and responsibilities required for this position. The candidate must be able to perform all the following duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation.

Requirements:
● High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
● At least 1 year of grooming experience or graduation from a grooming school
● Basic computer skills
● Knowledge of dog breeds, their grooming, and care standards

● Reliable transportation
● Willingness to work independently or in a team environment
● Well developed interpersonal skills and communication
● Ability to interact with animals in a calm, non-threatening manner
● Follow OSHA standards by demonstrating proper use of PPE when handling hazardous materials/chemicals/drugs and using medical imaging techniques such as radiology and other diagnostic procedures. Practice best safety precautions to prevent workplace hazards, ie: placing Wet Floor signs in visible area before mopping the floor and in place until the floor is dry and reporting any potential workplace hazards to management.
● Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds or more with assistance.
● Tasks may involve prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking, kneeling, crawling, bending, lifting, balancing, and crouching.
● Ability to work around sick or fractious animals, zoonotic diseases, hazardous materials and cleaning chemicals and anesthetic gas.
