What’s the Role?

Grinding Operator – Chilca Project

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Grinding Operator to join our team in Chilca.

In this role, you will operate grinding equipment according to standards, procedures and work instructions, performing grinding and finishing work on castings using swing frame grinders and hand grinders. You will use gauges and templates to ensure dimensional accuracy, handle castings with overhead cranes and material handling equipment, and work closely with other workshop colleagues to support safe, efficient and high-quality production.

Key Responsibilities

• Grinding Operations: Operate grinding equipment in accordance with standards, procedures and work instructions, performing grinding, deburring and finishing work on castings using swing frame grinders and hand grinders.

• Dimensional Accuracy and Handling: Use gauges and templates to grind castings to the required dimensions and manipulate castings using overhead cranes and other material handling equipment.

• Workshop Support and Housekeeping: Assist other colleagues in the workshop and with production, installation and maintenance activities, complete prestart and post-operation checks and keep the work area, tools and equipment safe, clean and in good order.

• Safety, Quality and Continuous Improvement: Demonstrate that safety is your number one priority, comply with all safety, sustainability and quality standards, participate in training, safety interactions and task observations, and proactively identify continuous improvement opportunities and waste reduction.

Our Ideal Candidate meet the following criteria:

• Education: Technical background, preferably with a Foundry Grinding Operator certification or similar.

• Experience: At least three years of relevant experience operating grinding equipment in foundry or heavy manufacturing environments.

• Certifications: Foundry Grinding Operator certification or an equivalent qualification is strongly preferred.

• Background in the industry: Experience in foundry, heavy manufacturing, fabrication or mining wear products is highly valued.

• Language skills: Intermediate or conversational level in English is valued but not mandatory.

Location:

The position will be based at our Chilca Foundry, located at G74J+WH, Chilca 15870 (transportation will be provided).
