What does the role involve?
Reporting to the Philanthropy and Development Manager, you’ll play a key role in growing Caritas Australia’s philanthropic income through Trusts & Foundations. You’ll partner with external agencies, Programs, and internal stakeholders to deliver high quality applications and stewardship.
Key responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
Working closely with our Programs team to gather project details, budgets and evidence, and turn complex information into clear, compelling grant narratives.
Research and prioritise new Trusts and Foundations opportunities, supported by our Strategic Grants agency partner and your manager, to help grow our philanthropic income.
Prepare and deliver persuasive grant applications and reports, contributing to a smooth, high‑quality grants lifecycle.
Support stewardship of philanthropic partners, including coordinating meetings, preparing updates, and getting involved in funder engagement activities that help you build your relationship‑management skills.
This role is based in our Mascot office and will work a hybrid model, including two days in the office per week.
Who are we looking for?
We’re looking for someone who is energised by purpose and passionate about using their writing skills to create a real impact. You love translating complex program information into clear, compelling stories that resonate with funders. You’re naturally curious, collaborative, and bring a creative, solutions‑focused mindset to your work. You will bring a mix of the following qualifications, skills and experience:
2–3 years’ experience in Grants or Trusts & Foundations, including hands‑on involvement in preparing applications, coordinating inputs and managing deadlines.
Experience using CRM or grants management systems, with confidence navigating digital tools and applying responsible use of AI in day-to-day tasks.
Ability to interpret budgets, guidelines and reporting requirements, supported by strong attention to detail and good judgement.
Strong organisational and relationship‑building skills, enabling you to work effectively across teams and with external partners while managing multiple priorities.
