Position Title: Grants Manager
Supervised By: Chief Philanthropy Officer
Compensation: This is an independent contractor position compensated at the agreed-upon rate as outlined in the contractor agreement. Payment will be made on an hourly basis, commensurate with experience and scope of work. This position is not eligible for employee benefits, including health, dental, vision insurance, paid leave, or retirement benefits. The contractor is responsible for all applicable taxes, insurance, and business-related expenses as required by law.
Job Classification: Independent Contractor. Engagement is project-based and/or hourly as defined in the executed contract agreement. Work may require travel and out-of-office meetings as outlined in the scope of work. Schedule is flexible but must meet agreed-upon deliverables, deadlines, and reporting expectations established in the contract.

Purpose of Position: The Grants Manager plays a critical role in advancing GISF’s mission by managing institutional fundraising, including prospect research, proposal development, reporting, and relationship management with foundation, corporate, and government funders. This position works closely with Program, Finance, and Development staff to ensure a strong grant strategy, accurate reporting, and compliance with funder requirements. The Grants Manager is both a strategic thinker and a detail-oriented project manager, ensuring grants align with organizational priorities and contribute to sustainable impact.
Grants Manager Responsibilities Include:
Grant Strategy, Research & Proposal Development
Develop and manage a comprehensive grants calendar, tracking deadlines, deliverables, and renewal opportunities.
Research and identify new foundation, corporate, and government funding opportunities aligned with organizational priorities.
Write, compile, and submit high-quality grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and applications in collaboration with program and finance staff.
Maintain a strong understanding of Girls Inc. of Santa Fe's programs, outcomes, and strategic goals to ensure compelling, accurate proposals.
Grant Management, Reporting & Compliance
Manage active grants from award through closeout, ensuring compliance with all funder requirements.
Prepare timely, accurate narrative and financial grant reports in collaboration with the Program and Finance departments.
Track grant outcomes, deliverables, and budgets, ensuring data integrity and alignment with proposals.
Maintain organized grant files, documentation, and correspondence in Salesforce and shared systems.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration
Work closely with Program staff to collect data, outcomes, and stories that demonstrate impact.
Partner with Finance to develop grant budgets, monitor expenditures, and reconcile financial reports.
Support Development leadership in aligning grant strategy with individual giving and organizational fundraising goals.
Data Management & Systems
Maintain accurate grant records in Salesforce, including proposals, awards, reports, and funder interactions.
Generate grant-related reports, dashboards, and summaries for internal planning and leadership review.
Ensure consistency of grant data across related platforms and systems.
Funder Stewardship & Relationship Support
Support stewardship of institutional funders through timely communication, acknowledgments, and updates.
Assist with preparation for funder site visits, meetings, and presentations as needed.
Departmental & Organizational Support
Participate in Development and all-staff meetings, planning sessions, and one full Saturday staff/board retreat.
Occasionally support events or meetings outside regular business hours.
Along with other staff members, answer the main phone line and direct calls as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned in support of the organization’s mission.
