Job Description
RES Environmental Ltd are an Urban Drainage and Environmental Consultancy. They work within the water and construction industry and specialise in all aspects of wastewater and river modelling, flood risk, storm water management and drainage design. Over the last 22 years, the business has steadily grown to a team of 35 talented individuals. They operate out of their main office in Sheffield city centre, and a south western office in Exeter. With a growing volume of work coming in from all corners of the UK, they are continuing to grow the business, with many exciting new projects over the next few of years. Their clients include most of the main Water Authorities as well as many other councils, urban planning and construction clients of all shapes and sizes.
To support the delivery of predominantly wastewater and integrated hydraulic modelling projects under the supervision of more senior members of staff.
The role will Include;
•             Initial feasibility studies and site works visits
•             Gathering data from clients, databases and other sources
•             Verifying, analysing and modelling data effectively, in collaboration with other team members
•             Scoping of surveys
•             Building hydraulic models using GIS
•             Generating synthetic rainfall in the computer model
•             Assessing model outputs and reporting on findings
•             Developing both hydraulic and environmental solutions to the water industry
•             Liaising with clients directly, producing reports and/or contributing to presentations for clients
•             Designing data interfaces, incorporating graphs, tables and visual layouts
You’ll be using a system called Innovyze ICM to build the models, which you’re unlikely to have come across before. It’s an advanced integrated catchment modelling software that allows you to model complex hydrologic and hydraulic network elements quickly, accurately and collaboratively.
The successful person for this role will:
Be a graduate from a highly numerate degree discipline, including but not limited to: Geography (especially those who enjoyed or specialised in Physical Geography), Urban/Town Planning or Environmental / Civil Engineering
Be looking to apply your love of logic and problem solving into a niche, technical career with great long-term prospects
Have great communication skills, particularly listening carefully and contributing positively within the team meetings and discussions
Enjoy working as part of a team on client projects and be willing to support other team members
Be proactive and able to work on your own initiative
Possess strong logical problem-solving skills
Be meticulous and pay great care and attention to detail
Have excellent reasoning and analysis skills, able to communicate numerical and other information clearly and confidently
Be a competent user of MS Excel and Word and able to pick up new systems quickly
It would be helpful if you have some experience of using GIS, or MapInfo, but don’t be put off if not!
