MacKay Contracting Ltd. is a progressive, well-established Heavy Civil Construction and Mining Services company operating across Western Canada. For over 40 years, we’ve been tackling the projects others shy away from — and doing them safely, efficiently, and with pride.
We’re currently looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator – Grader to join our team. This role is critical to the success of our projects and requires precision, awareness, and a strong commitment to safety.
What You’ll Be Doing
Operate graders and other heavy equipment safely and accurately to meet project specifications
Work collaboratively within a team environment to operate equipment including Excavators, Loaders, Dozers, Graders, and Haul Trucks
Maintain constant awareness in busy, fast-paced work environments and identify potential hazards before they become problems
Interpret verbal and non-verbal communication, including hand signals, from operators, ground personnel, and labourers
Conduct daily equipment inspections, complete logbooks, and perform minor maintenance, adjustments, lubrication, and housekeeping within your skillset
Complete daily track cleaning at the end of each shift
Identify hazards by completing field-level hazard assessments (FLHAs) and participating in pre-job hazard analysis
Ensure daily submission of FLHAs and timecards
Follow all MacKay safety policies, procedures, and best practices
Be flexible with hours and willing to support project needs
Perform additional duties as assigned
What You Bring
Experience operating a Grader in civil construction or equivalent environments
Knowledge of construction layout and staking
Experience with 3D machine control is an asset
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong communication skills and the ability to follow instructions clearly and safely
A valid, clean Driver’s Abstract
Valid government-issued photo ID

This role is based out of Sparwood, B.C., working a 7 x 7 shift rotation. Shifts typically run 12 hours, with overtime after 8 hours.
