QUALIFICATIONS:
Grade Checker 1
Prerequisites:
Has at least three (3) years of experience as a laborer in a grading and excavating company
Shows up on time and communicates effectively regarding schedule.
Excellent math skills (must pass a math exam)
Ability to calculate quantities, Base, Asphalt, Demo, Sections
Ability to work independently by taking initiative to move the project forward.
Good time management skills with the ability to prioritize work assignments.
Able to take directions, be trainable, and retain a general work task sequencing understanding.
Able to set hubs.
Able to scale plans.

Must possess a basic understanding of proper safety measures for working around slopes, vertical edges, and mass excavations.

Read & understand survey staking Gen. TC, PL, CF, FG, and FS at a basic level.
Leadership:
Provide basic level rough grade directions to heavy equipment operators, to include setting stakes and hiking up ribbons.

Prerequisites:
Possesses all of the qualities of Grade Checker 1 and the following:
Skills (must have):
Ability to old school layout without GPS.
Ability to rag up stakes with ribbon colors.
Ability to use Peep Sight / Hand-Eye Level.
Ability to use Swedes.
Ability to measure with Banjo
Set curb grade, sidewalk grade, and paving grade for heavy equipment operators.
Operate the following equipment at Operator 2 level for a skid steer and skip loader.
Have an intermediate-level ability to set up a laser, benching in on site survey, plan grade verifications.
Read & Understand Survey Staking Gen. TC, PL, CF, FG, and FS. Calculate Cuts/Fills
Leadership:
Great documentation skills documenting as built, work completed, and other daily reporting requirements.
Creative problem-solving capabilities, able to see problems with the project before they interfere with the project schedule.
Communicate with foreman on regular basis for jobsite needs.

Localize the site for GPS – Foreman / GPS Technician
Total Station setup – Foreman / GPS Technician

Prerequisites:
Must possess the qualities of Grade Checker 1 and 2
Skills:
Laser set up & Benching in without any assistance or direction.
Expert GPS knowledge: level GPS use, including topo, different work orders, daily set up and calibration check-in.
Plan Checks vs GPS Models for Accuracy with minimal errors and no assistance.
Must be an expert in the proper safety measures for working around slopes, vertical edges, and mass excavations.
Must be able to set, read, and understand grading stakes at an expert level.
Must be able to understand plans, blueprints, GPS file readouts, and other related information at an expert level.
Read & understand survey staking Gen. TC, PL, CF, FG, and FS at an expert level.
Leadership:

Prerequisites:
Must possess the qualities of Grade Checker 1, 2, and 3
Skills:
Expert GPS Set up Including Job Set up, Site Calibration and Topo to include different work orders.
Science of Soil and Compaction.
Daily check in Calibrations and creating new work orders.
Calculate Cuts/Fills
Ability to read and understand soils report and requirements.
Ability to Read RG Staking
Determine offsets
Measure cut/fill from hub or stake
Ribbon up with correct colors.
Must be able to independently layout site for OX, and Mass Ex
Expert working knowledge of GPS use as it relates to Files, Buttons, Topo’s, Machine Control Files, Export Files, and running calculations.
Leadership:
Be trusted to be the Foreman’s right hand, manage the job in absence of the Foreman for 1-2 days alone.
Able to give task delegations and confirm completion of tasks to required plans and documents/soils report.
Excellent documentation skills: via pictures, and written notes of day’s events.
Ability to effectively communicate with the Superintendent, soils engineers, city, and various inspectors.
Willing and able to train lower-tiered grade checkers.
Equipment care, maintenance and cleanliness
Company Paid Training:
Attending various site, coordination, and planning meetings for projects with Foreman
Learning equipment’s production, fuel burn and capabilities.

Successful completion of an apprenticeship program (card carrying Journeyman)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The grade checker may spend long hours standing and/or walking. The physical demands may include lifting, pushing, pulling and/or carrying objects which may exceed 25lbs or greater. Working in hot or cold environments. Working around loud machinery and tools.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
The Grade Checker reports to the Foreman and Field Superintendent.

Exercise the responsibilities and perform the duties of this position. This includes full decision-making authority for all responsibilities and/or duties.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES - The following are principal duties of the Laborer:
Comply with all applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations.
Conduct all activities in compliance with the Elite Earthworks code of conduct, safety policies, rules and regulations, and other company procedures.
Create a positive work environment and attitude building supportive morale
Document "lessons learned" and share with other employees, as appropriate.
Enforce and adhere to ethical business practices.
Enforce and adhere to Elite Earthworks and Engineering Core Values, Mission Statement, and Vision Statement.
Identify, document, and report any violation of company policy, Core Values, or ethics to the appropriate supervisor.
Perform other duties as directed by the Grade Checker or Foreman
Identify, report, and correct unsafe working conditions.
Make recommendations for process improvements.
Direct and control traffic at project site.
Document times and number of loads, as requested.
Maintain all tools, repairing or replacing tools as required.
Report all equipment problems to supervisor.
Use hand tools, hand whacker, roller compactor, etc. to complete basic work as directed.
Work in close proximity with various heavy equipment as directed.
