Job Description

Role:  Intermediate Java developer

Location : Regina

Contract

The Ministry of Social Services is part way through a multi-year program initiative to implement Cúram Case Management Software. Basic Case Management functionality has been implemented throughout the province to nearly 1,000 workers. The ITO is in the process of building up the Application Management Services Support team to provide ongoing support for the system.

Project Duties of Resource:

    Analysis of reported defects and other technical issues through to solutions

    Development of the solutions and other enhancements

    Associated unit tests for development including automated unit tests

    Creation of detailed design specifications for the solutions and enhancements or modification of existing specifications as applicable

    Estimating effort for development and testing of solutions

    Monitoring of production processes and recommendations for streamlining, automation and improvements

    Liaising with Cúram Experts as well as internal ITO teams

    Liaising with client Business Analysts and Subject Matter Experts

Qualifications

Mandatory Requirements:

    Minimum of 3 years experience in Development in a Java/J2EE environment

    Minimum of 1 years experience with model driven development

    Commitment to become Cúram Developer Certified at their own cost.

NOTE:

The successful resource will be expected to complete online training in the Cúram software and become Cúram Developer certified after the first year.

Other Required Skills:

    Knowledge and experience working with Oracle; proficient in SQL

    Knowledge of and/or  experience with Rational Rose or Rational Software Architect and modeling using UML

    Experience in Client Server, Multi-tier and Web environment using Java, IBM Websphere, and J2EE technologies

    Ability to create / write technical documents including but not limited to: functional specifications, operational documentation, release plans, release notes and architecture documents (please cite

specific examples)

    Experience in source code administration

    Demonstrated experience in following best practices and standards for development

    Strong technical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to isolate root causes

    Good interpersonal and communication skills

    Experience with Cúram Case Management Software

Other Qualifications:

   Experience with AIX 5.3/6

    Experience with Star Team

    Ability to work in a team environment - sharing ideas and working collaboratively

    Self-motivated and able to work independently

    Experience in the public sector
