This role is part of the Governance and Assurance Team who ensure elected members have the information and support they need, when they need it, to represent residents well and achieve great outcomes for our city. We’re also the go-to team for advice on a wide range of governance and democratic processes.

As our Governance Coordinator, you’ll play a key part in ensuring seamless administrative and governance support within the Governance and Assurance team. Your work will help our leaders stay organised, responsive, and focused on delivering positive outcomes for our community.

This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same, and your ability to manage information, relationships, and priorities will be highly valued.

What you’ll be doing

• Providing high‑quality administrative and governance support, including managing calendars, emails, travel, meetings, agendas, documents, minutes, and action lists.
• Preparing accurate and polished correspondence, reports, and presentations.
• Maintaining efficient systems for filing, records management, and financial processing (POs, invoices, expenses).
• Delivering comprehensive EA leave cover—managing diaries, inboxes, workflows, briefings, and stakeholder liaison.
• Assisting with communications to Elected Members, staff, and the public across various channels.
• Exercising sound judgement and escalating sensitive or politically significant matters appropriately.
• Building strong relationships across the organisation and with external stakeholders.
• Supporting the planning and delivery of governance‑related functions and events.

• Minimum 7 years’ experience in executive or personal assistant roles, or similar support positions (training will be given if the person has transferable skills at the required level/length of experience – but not necessarily all (or any) in the equivalent environment).
• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in business administration or management (Local Government experience ideal).
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience in financial processing (POs, invoices, expenses).
• Experience supporting senior leaders within large or complex organisations (preferred).
• Experience with communications support or social media monitoring (preferred).
• Experience supporting small functions and events (preferred)

Circa $75K dependent on skills and experience.
