KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Customer Service

• Verify that all required documents—such as the invoice, bill of lading, letter of instructions, and any other necessary documentation for compliance with customs and non-tariff regulations—are accurately reflected in the official customs document (Pedimento) for the clearance of goods.
• Ensure compliance with current customs and foreign trade regulations, laws, and restrictions for all shipments, making sure all necessary documents (tax, commercial, and any other applicable) meet legal requirements.
• Receive and follow up on incidents generated at Customs resulting from anomalies or inconsistencies in clearances, such as statements of facts or omissions, administrative procedure records, fines, and penalties, which must be evaluated jointly with the Regional team until resolution.
• Provide support to the commercial team regarding inquiries and advisory services in the field.
• Stay informed about updates in foreign trade regulations through official sources such as the Federal Official Gazette and relevant government agencies.
• Ensure all shipments are processed as a top priority and within the department’s established KPIs.
• Avoid revenue impact or payment penalties due to errors (rectifications or fines that cannot be charged to the client, etc.).
• Be proactive, anticipating customer needs. Notify CSR and the relevant team truthfully and promptly of any delays or decisions that could affect the shipment or the client.
• Follow communication guidelines and standards.
• Complete monthly audits on time within established deadlines (Regional, Corporate, and/or Client).
• Make changes to customs entries (Pedimento) when required.
• Execute validation and payment of customs entries.

Compliance with Local and Customs Procedures

• Ensure proper registration of part numbers in the customs entry system and configuration of permits, exemptions, and application of preferences for accurate customs declaration.
• Manage the Customs Entry Capture System regarding user access, client profiles, catalogs, value statements, and restrictions, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and standardization of data in generated documentation.
• Administer the POA (Power of Attorney) tool, ensuring client legal files are complete and documentation is up to date. Conduct periodic audits and request missing documents as needed.
• Manage and control Value Statements, requesting them from the CSR team and ensuring data accuracy, validity, and proper storage.

• Stay up to date on regulations and laws applicable to customs clearance.
• Complete a minimum of 52 hours of training per year.
• Understand all categories of District Excellence Metrics.
• Adapt to changes and new procedures.

General Office Support

• Actively participate in operational meetings.
• Support company and departmental initiatives.
• Maintain a continuous improvement mindset to identify areas of opportunity.

Department Appearance

• Keep the work area clean, organized, and professional.
• Answer phone calls promptly following company etiquette.
• Always maintain professional attire according to the dress code.

Knowledge:

•  Bachelor’s degree in foreign Trade or related fields.
•  Minimum 1 year of experience in Customs Compliance activities.
•  Knowledge of Customs Law and customs regimes.
• Knowledge of General Foreign Trade Rules and Non-Tariff Regulations and Restrictions.
• Knowledge of customs procedures and defense mechanisms.
• Knowledge of international treaties, application of tariff preferences, and foreign trade promotion programs.
• Knowledge of procedures before government agencies and ministries (SAT, VUCEM, SAGARPA, SEMARNAT, SENASICA, PROFEPA, COFEPRIS, SEDENA, etc.).

Skills:

• Effective interpersonal skills, including proven abilities to listen, comprehend, effectively communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results
• Pro-active, strong organizational skills
• Good computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Medium to fluent knowledge English, written and spoken.
• Flexible schedule availability.
