A Day in the Life
The Global Sales Training Principal Specialist will impact the success of our sales and marketing organizations across our Region Led Markets (RLM) by executing technical, clinical, and skill training focused on sales, marketing, and customer support. This position reports to the Global Director of Sales Training Deployment within the RLM. This is a strategic and execution role supporting critical commercial team operations across the RLM.
This role presents an exceptional opportunity to utilize your clinical or sales expertise while developing the skills necessary for upward or lateral career advancement. The ideal candidate will create and implement training programs for new and existing employees. Additionally, they will collaborate closely with local field management to assess the performance needs that facilitate ongoing development and optimization sales performance
The work location within the CEMA region is flexible; however, candidates must be willing to travel up to 50%. A significant portion of the role involves delivering hands-on training at Medtronic corporate offices worldwide, including regular international travel and flexible working hours.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
• Drive sales excellence within the Surgical commercial teams by collaborating with global and regional training, sales, and marketing to create and deliver clinical and technical training for the Surgical business. This training will maintain approximately 80% global standardization with 20% tailored customization for the RLM.
• Ensure effective program design and implementation to address the needs of new hires, current employees, leadership, and support functions across the RLM.
• Identify knowledge and skill gaps within the sales teams and propose a targeted training solution to enhance team capabilities.
• Collaborate with sales, marketing, and regional training teams to execute training programs (including technical, clinical, and selling skills content) that facilitate successful new hire sales representatives training, existing sales recertifications, product launches, and organizational structure changes.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
• Successful 5 years combined experience in two or more of the following functions: medical device sales or marketing, training delivery, or other relevant areas, with a strong track record and demonstration of individual and team results.
• Strong commercial acumen, excellent communication skills, a genuine enthusiasm for training and development, and a commitment to team results.
• In-depth knowledge of successful field sales and support organization structure, processes, and culture.
• Excellent influencing, interpersonal, communication, presentation, and facilitation skills with demonstrated leadership and coaching capabilities.
• Experience in multicultural organizations, notably different learning and communication styles.
• Proven track record of navigating and collaborating within a global matrix organization.
• Experience with project management/project leadership, excellent planning, organizational skills, and demonstrated ability to manage multiple, complex projects concurrently.
• Proficient spoken and written English capabilities.
Preferred skills include a proven record of quota success across Surgical Stapling, Surgical Energy, Hernia, and Suture product portfolios, demonstrating strong commercial acumen and a consistent commitment to achieving results. The ideal candidate is actively involved in sales training programs, with experience coaching and mentoring new or less experienced sellers to deliver measurable positive outcomes. Additionally, they bring demonstrated leadership in driving change, along with a creative and innovative approach within current or previous roles.

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
