About the Role
As part of the Global Engineering Team, this role is responsible for managing the end-to-end delivery of Capex projects across Southern Europe, Turkey, Kenya, and Indonesia, ensuring alignment with Flora Food Group standards and industry best practices. With an expected annual Capex spend of approximately €5–10 million, the position plays a key role in partnering with Supply Chain and Manufacturing teams to deliver projects on time, in full, and within budget, following the Flora Food Group Project Delivery Framework.
The successful candidate will lead a broad range of engineering and expansion projects, including both greenfield and brownfield initiatives. Responsibilities include conducting feasibility assessments, developing order-of-magnitude cost estimates, defining project scopes, preparing URS documentation and Capital Appropriation Requests, and overseeing project planning and execution from concept through implementation. The role also involves driving value-creating manufacturing initiatives requiring capital investment, supporting OEE improvement plans, and identifying opportunities to debottleneck manufacturing sites through engineering improvements.
Working closely with Global Engineering subject matter experts, Procurement, P&I teams, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain stakeholders, the role ensures alignment to engineering standards while supporting innovation, renovation, sustainability, business continuity, and decarbonization projects. The position is accountable for cost management, schedule control, procurement activities, and risk management across all assigned projects, while ensuring strict adherence to company policies and a collaborative approach to stakeholder engagement.
In addition, the role requires close coordination with maintenance teams and external engineering partners, including management of field project engineers and supplier relationships. Regular travel across AMEA (Africa, Middle East and Asia) countries is expected to support project execution, supplier meetings, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and stakeholder alignment. This position is part of the Global Engineering Team and reports directly to the Head of Engineering Europe and AMEA.
So what does it take to be successful in this role?
You are a qualified engineer with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical/Process, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, and you bring strong experience in FMCG manufacturing environments. You have a solid track record in delivering engineering projects and managing mid- to large-scale Capex investments, typically above €5 million, ideally supported by project management certification.
You have strong technical knowledge of facility design, utilities, civils, and water/wastewater systems, along with a good understanding of food and beverage processing and packaging. You are also familiar with food safety, GMP standards, and sustainability-related requirements such as LEED principles and relevant industry frameworks.
You are financially astute, with experience in budgeting, cost control, and risk management, and you are comfortable taking ownership of capital spend, timelines, and delivery performance. You work well in complex, fast-paced environments where multiple projects run in parallel.
You are a strong communicator who builds effective relationships across functions and geographies, with the ability to influence stakeholders and collaborate in multicultural, cross-functional teams. You are confident using engineering and project management tools and are willing to travel internationally as required to support project delivery.
