Job Description

The GFS China Solution Architect plays a critical role in developing and delivering the transformation and digital solutions agenda for GFS. Partnering with the GFS China Business Analyst, GFS China Site & Transformation Lead and GFS APAC, this role is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and developing high-quality digital solutions while supporting transformation initiatives and its implementation in China, aligning with GFS global strategy and objectives.

The Solution Architect supports and optimizes daily business systems by leveraging technologies such as, but not limited to, Microsoft Power Platform solutions (e.g. Power BI, Power Apps, Microsoft Fabric), Python, ensuring ongoing operational stability and prompt issue resolution. Through rigorous data analysis and the translation of business needs into actionable technical requirements, the role identifies opportunities for process improvement, applying advanced analytics and automation tools to enable continuous enhancement of operational efficiency and digital capability within the organization.

Typical Accountabilities

Strategy Planning:

• Business Needs Assessment: Evaluate business objectives and operational challenges to identify areas for transformation including development of business case.

• Technology Road-mapping: Create long-term technology plans that align with the business transformation strategy for owned identified and assigned projects.

• Solution Evaluation: Assess third-party solutions and internal technologies for suitability in achieving objectives.

Design and Architecture:

• Architecture Design: Develop comprehensive architectural designs for IT solutions that meet the needs of operational strategy, including scaling end-to-end process workflows

• Interoperability: Ensure that solutions can easily integrate with existing systems and processes.

• Scalability: Design solutions to be scalable, allowing for future growth and changes in strategy.

Development and Implementation:

• Technical Development & Guidance: Develop solutions according to business requirements and provide technical oversight during the implementation phase to ensure alignment with the architecture.

• Risk Mitigation: Identify and plan for potential risks associated with the technology solution.

• Quality Assurance: Oversee the quality of the implemented solutions, ensuring they meet specified requirements and performance criteria.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with GFS leads and senior stakeholders, market senior stakeholders, project managers, and IT teams to communicate solution benefits and challenges.

• Documentation: Produce detailed documents outlining the architecture, implemented solutions, and guidelines for maintenance and scaling.

• Training: Conduct, facilitate or support digital upskilling training sessions to ensure the organization is equipped to effectively utilize the new solutions, including upskilling initiatives

Ongoing Maintenance:

• Updates and Improvements: Maintain and support daily business systems and solutions. Regularly review the implemented solutions for opportunities to optimize or update based on business changes. Ensure ongoing stability and performance of operational environments.

• Issue Resolution: Provide expert advice for resolving any issues related to the architecture or implemented operational solutions.

• Performance Metrics: Monitor KPIs to assess the effectiveness of implemented solutions in meeting the operational strategy objectives.

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Essential

• Degree in Statistical, Computer Science, Mathematics or any related field

• Proven experience & capabilities in FineBI, FineReport, Tableau, Microsoft Power Platform & Fabric with Power BI and Copilot and other programming language i.e. Python, C#, Java, .NET, C++, Analytical tools i.e. R, Power Automate

• Familiar with mainstream databases such as Oracle and MySQL, and skilled in SQL; experience with cloud data architectures, e.g., Databricks, Azure, or AWS

• Experience in project development and management

• Experience in comprehensive data collection, organization, analysis, and modelling; big data related skills

• Good logical analysis skills, organizational and communication abilities, strong team spirit, and resilience under pressure

• Proficiencies: Problem Solving, Business Analysis, Teamwork - works well with culturally and geographically diverse teams, Communication and Project Management

Desirable

• Experience in business case development for digital solutions and transformation initiatives

• Exposure to AI, machine learning, or IT implementation in business settings.

• Understanding of best practices in the pharmaceutical or life sciences sector
