GEMTEC currently has an opening for a Geotechnical Engineering Student in our London, Ontario office location for the Summer 2026 (May to September 2026).
You’re an ideal candidate if you have:
Enrollment in Bachelor or Masters degree program in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering at an accredited university
Experience or interest in general construction activities, materials testing and inspection services.
A desire to get hands-on experience in your field of study.
The initiative to find the next task without being instructed
A typical day on the job might look like:
Assist with geotechnical (investigations and inspections) projects including writing proposals, field work, data analysis, and writing geotechnical technical reports;
Assist in the preparation of field reports for civil engineering projects;
Conduct field inspection and testing;
Adhering to all company policies.
Performing other duties as required.
The good stuff you get:
4- months of engineering experience
Average of 37.5 hours per week, plus overtime, when available
Experience working with P.Eng. and specialists in the field
Compensation for mileage driving to sites
Your background and what you bring:
Experience with materials testing and inspection.
Have excellent writing and verbal communication skills (English), strong organizational skills, and time management skills and the ability to prioritize several assignments at one time in order to deliver quality work on time and on budget.
Experience working in civil construction is considered an asset.
Valid driver’s license and insurance
Pay Range: $20.50 - $23.50 CAD per hour
In alignment with Ontario’s Employment Standards Act and pay‑transparency requirements, GEMTEC includes the expected compensation range in publicly advertised job postings for roles based in Ontario. This range reflects what GEMTEC reasonably anticipates paying for this position. Final compensation will be based on the successful candidate’s education, experience, skills, internal pay equity, specific Ontario location, or other factors unrelated to Ontario‑protected grounds.
