Geotechnical Engineer-in-Training/ Analyst (26022)

We currently have an opening for a Junior Geotechnical EIT/ Analyst in our Mississauga, ON office.

The successful candidate will have the following:

Educational & Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in geotechnical.

Must be working towards gaining your Professional Engineers Ontario (P.Eng.)   

Relevant professional experience (preferably in consulting) would be considered an asset.

Understanding and demonstrated field experience in soil and bedrock classification, overburden and bedrock drilling methods, and soil, sediment, surface water and groundwater sampling protocols.

Familiarity with software packages specific to geotechnical engineering (borehole logging, settlement and stability modeling).

Ability and interest to undertake extensive fieldwork, in a range of weather conditions, including working in remote locations and on programs that may require camp stays.

Main Duties:

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience in the following:

Provide field and technical support to a wide variety of geotechnical projects; including the preparation and supervision of field programs, data collection, data analysis, and technical report writing and proposal preparation.

Design and conduct field investigations, including: drilling and logging, test pitting, soil and bedrock characterization, monitoring well installation, hydraulic response testing, soil, groundwater, sediment and surface water sampling, installation of groundwater instrumentation, etc.

Assisting intermediate and senior staff prepare technical geotechnical reports including, geotechnical site characterization and design (foundations, slope stability, retaining structures, settlement analysis, etc.), and groundwater and surface water monitoring reports.

Assisting with field materials engineering and construction services as needed, including field testing and inspection of aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and construction and earthworks supervision.

Interpretation and application of provincial and federal acts and regulations.

Adhering to all company policies.

Other duties as required.

Position:

Contract until December 2026 with possibility of extension

37.5 hours/week (varies with client workload)

Must have a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle

Pay Range: $26.67 - $30.77 CAD hourly

In alignment with Ontario’s Employment Standards Act and pay‑transparency requirements, GEMTEC includes the expected compensation range in publicly advertised job postings for roles based in Ontario. This range reflects what GEMTEC reasonably anticipates paying for this position. Final compensation will be based on the successful candidate’s education, experience, skills, internal pay equity, specific Ontario location, or other factors unrelated to Ontario‑protected grounds.
