Geological Technician

Key Areas of Responsibility & Accountability

Safety / Environment

·         Maintain high standards of housekeeping at all times, safe work, incident/accident reporting & active involvement in safety initiatives to ensure a safe work environment

·         Understand and familiarise oneself with site Emergency evacuation procedures

·         Abide by and proactively comply with Company policies, procedures, guidelines, and systems, as well as all relevant legislation

Company / Leadership

·         Display conduct which is aligned with company Core Values, Policies and Procedures

·         Lead by example and actively participate to achieve department and company goals and objectives

Behaviour / Attitude

·         Support and follow all lawful instructions/directives from your supervisor

·         Maintain a high level of professionalism and take responsibility for own conduct and behaviour in the workplace

Knowledge / Skills

·         Aid Geologists to ensure work programmes are completed as scheduled

·         Ensure complete rehabilitation of drill sites and other related ground disturbance activities

·         Assist in processing core samples including cutting, SG determinations, bagging and dispatching of samples to assay laboratories

·         Conduct sampling and data collection activities as and when required

·         Ensure coring programmes are conducted to SLR standards, with reference to sampling and QAQC protocols

·         Ensure all data collected is uploaded or transferred in a consistent and efficient manner

·         Attend and actively participate in shift change meetings

·         Undertake diamond core processing, including mark-up and orientation, core cutting, sampling, and other related measurements

·         Ensure company vehicles are appropriately equipped and maintained

·         Organise and maintain the core processing facility

·            Communicate and promote effective cross functional working relationships with internal and external stakeholders

·            Participate and support business improvement initiatives within the business

·            Work as part of a small team and actively contribute

·            Communicate relevant information and data to other personnel through formalised shift changes and use data reporting systems

Planning & Organisation

·            Prioritise and complete tasks accurately as to specifications as assigned by your supervisor within required timeframes

·            Be punctual to work and all required site meetings

·            Undertake other duties as lawfully instructed
