Deliver High-Impact Surgical Care in a Dynamic Clinical Environment
As a General Surgeon, you will provide comprehensive surgical care for patients requiring urgent, emergent, and routine procedures in a fast-paced healthcare setting. This role offers the opportunity to practice broad-spectrum surgery, collaborate closely with multidisciplinary clinical teams, and make a meaningful difference in patient outcomes through decisive, high-quality care.

Position Overview
The General Surgeon is responsible for the preoperative, operative, and postoperative management of patients across a wide range of surgical conditions. This includes emergency and trauma-related procedures as well as general surgical cases involving abdominal, vascular, urologic, orthopedic, neurologic, and soft-tissue conditions.
Working alongside anesthesia providers, nurses, and surgical support staff, you will help ensure safe, coordinated surgical care while maintaining high clinical and documentation standards in a mission-driven healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform a broad range of general surgical procedures, including emergency and trauma-related operations, while ensuring safe and effective patient care
• Conduct comprehensive preoperative evaluations, review diagnostic findings, and develop appropriate surgical treatment plans
• Provide postoperative management, monitor patient recovery, address complications, and coordinate follow-up care
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists, nurses, surgical technicians, and interdisciplinary clinical teams to support optimal surgical outcomes
• Educate patients and families regarding surgical procedures, treatment expectations, risks, and recovery plans
• Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation, including operative reports, patient assessments, and clinical records within EMR systems
• Participate in required clinical compliance, credentialing, and regulatory education activities
Requirements & Qualifications
• MD or DO from an accredited medical school recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
• Board Certified or recently ABS-qualified General Surgeon with a current unrestricted U.S. medical license from any state, territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia
• Current ATLS certification required; Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) or comparable advanced trauma training preferred
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum of 5 years of recent clinical experience, including at least 6 months within the last year
• Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance (MRPT); active clearances preferred
• U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required, along with a valid U.S. passport with at least 18 months remaining before expiration
• Ability to relocate to Iraq for the duration of the assignment and meet pre-deployment medical and physical requirements
• Must be able to communicate effectively in English and perform duties involving prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 25 pounds
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior experience working on a military installation or within a government healthcare program
• Recent experience in trauma, emergency, or austere surgical environments
• Experience working in multidisciplinary surgical teams supporting high-acuity patient populations

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.
