General Store- Retail Assistant

We’re seeking a hands-on Retail Assistant to join our dynamic team and play a key role in supporting our General Store team within our organisation.

Role Overview:

The General Store Retail Assistant is responsible for maintaining outstanding customer service, generating sales, merchandising, and safeguarding company assets.

Main Duties:

Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day.

Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.

Be familiar with all Hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquires accurately.

Pick up, count and maintain bank.

Sell merchandise and enter sales and payments in the Point of Sale (POS) system

Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.

Ensure that each customer receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment, which includes greeting and acknowledging every customer, maintaining solid product knowledge and all other aspects of customer service. 

Aid customers in locating merchandise.

Operate the food service and deli areas.

Merchandise all stock.

Conduct stocktaking when necessary.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

Compute basic mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers)

Ability to use a Point of Sale (POS) system is preferred.

Previous customer service experience preferred.

Ability to sit/stand for long periods of time, enduring various physical movements including stretching, pushing and bending. 

Ability to lift at least 50lbs.

Flexibility to work on weekends, holidays, and evenings as scheduled.       

Ability to work in a multi-tasking, fast-paced environment.96

The ideal candidate will possess:

At least one (1) year experience in a similar role is an asset.

Must be proficient in cash handling and transaction processing.

Perform job functions with attention to detail.

Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.

Work with minimal supervision..

Must be able to work around chemicals.
